Audioslave

This is a cover of Audioslave's, Show Me How To Live. As usual, I play all the guitars and bass, Jim sings and I use Addictive Drums. Most of the way through production though, I realized I still had AD1 and not AD2. I started the track a long time ago but only recently discovered how to make the bass sound like it does during the lead break. The lead break is unlike the original for a few reasons. I'm not good with synths and I really didn't like it so I came up with my own lead break but the bass is pretty close to the original.

Hope you like it!
Enjoy!

not familiar with the original so don't know how it compares. the mix is pretty good. the singer is excellent, trying to think who he reminds me of. guitar playing is good, perhaps they are a little fuzzy at times but they work well in the more intense parts of the song.

Honestly, the vocals need a lot of work.  The transition notes are way pitchy, and even the hold out notes are fast and loose with the pitch.  Is this a genre the singer is generally comfy with?  I was just wondering if maybe they are stepping out of their comfort zone a little, which obviously isn't a bad thing, but might need to spend a lot more time practicing.  Good voice texture, attractive, but just way out of tune all over this song.

I love your version of the lead break - better than the original.  I agree with you, I'm not sure what he's doing on guitar on that part but I never cared for it.  I am impressed with what you came up with.  It still has that pocket and feel when it breaks to that part, but your guitar work is way more interesting and pleasing.

Those addictive drums sound pretty damn good too.  I didn't expect that.

Pretty good mix man.  Great work, you used your own style of vocals, which I respect.  Drums, guitar and bass are tight during the main riffs.  Sounds almost identical to the real track at times.  Cheers!

Is your guitar the Eleven Rack, TH3, mic'ed amp or direct line in?  Thanks.

That is a big *** mix.

Really nice width and depth across those guitars, without completely overpowering everything else - the vocals sit nicely in the center.   Drums sound great too, and the bass really supports well.   I thought Jim did a good job too - Chris Cornell is not an easy one to pull off.

I really appreciate all the comments, thank you.

I used the Eleven Rack for the guitars. I use the Solo 100 crunch with a V30 cab. I only have minimal EQ and very little reverb for that preset. The bass is the Tweed bass with the Tweed 4x10 cab. I have to admit the huge difference in mixing using the Eleven Rack as opposed to the Octa-Capture. Either that or getting actual monitors and a sub.
