[Work Around In Place] What was that display mode?

Prior to the silver light implementation, when we opened the PRV, it opened full screen...

From the little left corner icon, this could be enabled/disabled...

I know in the past I incorrectly referred to this as msi mode and was corrected...

Now I'm trying to remember that and find how I previously managed it under silverlight...

I have managed to get the PRV to open large, but not filling the screen...

This is my new DAW runnnng under win8.1
My previous running under win7 did this as I like...

Both running Platinum. I didn't make the switch until (I believe) 2016:03 or 04...

I no longer have the older DAW so I can't even investigate it there...

Can someone please correct my misuse of msi one more time so I can straighten this out?

Thanks everybody!

As I  recall, so-called 'MDI' mode is undocked and unfloated. But to go full screen, you want Floated. Enable/Disable Floating on an undocked window is accessed by clicking the icon at the upper left corner of the title bar of the undocked window.

    Thanks brundlefly...

That's what I was remembering... But sadly it's no longer there...

I've got a reasonable large screen view though it is not full screen and locked into the frame... Just a large floating window...

I like the mdi mode better and I had such working on my previous DAW with SPlat 2016:3 or 4 under win7...

I'm wondering why I can't do it on this new DAW and guessing it's no longer available in win 8.1?

For all the myriad of cool new things this is yet another list thing... So far?

...still hoping to find a way!

Keni why not  just use the screenset like I mentioned in your other similar thread
    http://forum.cakewalk.com/PRV-Not-Remembering-To-Remain-Full-Screen-m3442776.aspx#3443117

I just tested out myself and it works flawlessly.

    -undock the PRV
    -maximize it.
    -lock the screenset.
-switch the screenset to another one.
-come back to the locked screenset (its undocked and maximized)

or you could always use shift + D to maximize the dock and keep it docked.
but if im understanding you correctly, you don't want it docked. you want it undocked and to take up the whole screen.

    use a screenset.

    Thanks chuckebaby...

How do I make select which clip is in the display... The only ways I see take enough extea keystrokes to make saving the screenset pointless... It always opens to the clip it was saves with... What am I missing?

Yes, I would like it fit full to the framework giving as much PRV visible as possible...

    Thanks...

I know how to float and Max the PRV, but this is not the same as the mdi mode did...

It also seems that whatever size the PRV is when I undock it is the new default that it will auto open to so I still need to do extra clicks every time I open the PRV... As its n the multidock, even maximized, it is not full screen as I can further enlarge it to after floating it, but that dies not persist...

Not convenient as was the mdi mode...

Maybe it would persist if I locked a screenset, but then I need further clicks to select the midi clip I wish to edit...

This was one-click, auto-simple for me with mdi mode enabled... <sigh>

    Hi chuckebaby...

I guess soemething is getting lost here...

I did read your post, but I guess you didn't understand my response.... or I didn't state things well...

with a screenset locked, I get the PRV displaying the midi clip that was previously selected...

How do I now select different clips/locations? the only way I know of is to do the "pick tracks" option followed by finding my location.

This is a long way from simply being at a location and double clicking to open the prv to the current location...

    What am I missing?

maybe im not understanding what you mean either. if I am then im sorry.

    if you switch screen sets.
    its literally 1 click.

if you use the # key to press 7 (create your screenset with your full PRV on #7)
then just type the #1 (to get back to screenset with track view only midi track view.)

    I'm missing something here...

I understand switching screensets... I use this for many things, but how do I select the desired clip and location to be displayed?

As mentioned in my other current, related thread...

Somewhat forced to use multidock and its d commands...

More clicks than mdi mode provided for me as well as slightly smaller work space, but I will get along for now wit his added to my list of issues...

I'm guessing win8.1 changed something that allowed mdi to be available so I don't know how or when this little annoyance is gonna return the simple, working solution I had...

My new DAW cannot run Win7 as apple propped support and my hardware is too old to support win10... Trapped!

    Thanks for sticking with me...
