Sonar Transport Module rendering/slow response issue

Hi folks,

I'm using Sonar Platinum 64 with an RME Babyface in Windows 10 64, and I have all the latest updates and drivers. I've had a few incidents over the last couple of weeks where the on-screen transport controls in Sonar's transport module stop responding properly while I am working on a project. It seems to happen somewhat at random (or, whatever is triggering the issue hasn't been obvious enough for me to spot the pattern). I'll hit play, and the project will start playing, but the "play" button itself won't change color, and the "stop" button will remain blacked out, as though the project is at rest. If I attempt to stop playback, the stop button won't respond for a few seconds -- sometimes if I click on the stop button repeatedly, it will suddenly work, and playback will stop; sometimes, it will just keep ignoring me and playback will continue. The only way to restore the transport button's proper functionality is to close and restart Sonar. I should mentioned, I currently use the Tungsten theme.

Now, at the moment this is not a huge issue for me -- I use a Mackie control with Sonar, so I actually use the transport buttons on the control surface, more often than not. And they always function perfectly, regardless if the onscreen transport is acting up or not. But a couple weeks ago I began to notice that the on-screen transport was not always changing color when I went from play to stop, and when I tested the buttons, they exhibited the above behavior.

I was curious if anyone else has had this issue crop up.

Thanks,

Rob

Hi. Sorry if this is obvious, but have you tried another keyboard? Just my thought, due to control surface working every time.
    All the best.

I wouldn't hesitate to blame Windows 10 to be honest,
you can open "resmon" (windows resource monitor) in the background to observe any strange behaviour of processor/ram/disk usage, for ex. I figured out it's impossible to run conversions of huge files on Windows 10 because the telemetry spying will start checking the file so disk usage goes 100% and instead of 10's of minutes in Windows 7, it takes more than 5 hours in Windows 10, very disturbing :(

Sorry, I probably didn't explain the situation properly -- its a mouse/screen/rendering issue, I suspect. Seemingly at random, the screen transport controls on Sonar's main screen stop responding to what is happening in Sonar. If a track is playing, the playback button doesn't turn yellow, and the stop button stays black. When this happens, clicking the stop button with the mouse won't cause playback to end. It's as if the transport controls on screen are no longer reacting to the mouse, and no longer talking to Sonar. The only way to reset this is to close and reopen Sonar, after which the transport controls start working again.

I use Sonar pretty much every day, and this has happened maybe 4 or 5 times in the past three weeks.

Just check that you haven't got the "pause" key engaged.
Have you changed your graphics driver recently?

I’ve seen strange things happen to SONAR’s transport controls, but only when using Nomad Factory’s virtual studio rack MAGMA. Within a few minutes of testing different presets the transport buttons in SONAR become totally unresponsive. Hence it might be an issue with a badly written VST.
