File dump crash?

When I try to open a project on X3, some of the projects can't be found and it gives you the option to search for the project. No matter which option I choose for the search, after about 30 seconds of scanning files I get a dialog box saying something about a "dump crash" and X3 automatically closes. Does anyone know a fix for this?

Thanks,
James

if you try to open a project as normal "a new project".
    is there any problems ?

you could have some plug ins that are failing to load.
you could try holding Shift while opening sonar.
this is known as "Safe mode".

if you are having a plug in issue this will let you know.

if its "Missing audio" you are referring to, well that's a little different.
simply navigate to the correct folder where the missing audio is and load the files in 1 click.

Thanks Chuck, yes it does say "Find missing audio". Let me try loading the missing files and see if that works.

ya it sounds like you could have a couple different things going on here.
even finding missing audio wouldn't produce a crash/dump.

have you moved files, folders around recently ?

Hi Chuck, Yes, over the winter I deleted certain song files for songs that I didn't want anymore to try and save hard drive space. I post on here and it was suggested to get a second internal hard drive. I know when I deleted the song files, it seemed to have messed up other songs or projects and would not let them open and created the crash it looks like. What I did after talking to you was try what you said but it still seemed to crash the system. So I then restored all the projects backed up in Idrive. It took 11 hours to get all the files restored and i set it to restore them to their original place and that has fixed it. Every project or song opens up now. The whole computer is slow now but its all there. I think I am just at a disadvantage with recording because I am just not a computer person. I can seem to grasp anything electronic unless i hear it over and over. So I am happy to have a slower computer that has everything there basically. Thanks for helping. At some point I will probably just get a new computer and load a new version of X3 and just start over rather than try to keep this computer going. :)

    Thanks again, James

You should always use Utilities-Clean Audio Folder when cleaning up Sonar files. It will detect if any project is using the file.
