Demo Mix- The Lake w/ vocal remix
Here's the demo mix I'm sending to the publisher on this one. Crossing my fingers. The Lake Remixed w/vocal a little more out front. Brian

Catchy, energized and well performed. Great job all around. The sounds are great - guitars really pop and the rythm track kicks along perfectly. I'd bring your vocal up a bit (that's it as far as criticism). Nice going and good luck with this!

hi brian, really catchy tune .. only thing i'd change is the vox doesn't seem thick enough . not sure if a short L/R delay or a way back dbl track. .. substitute butt for a** ... 'cause you might as well do the substitution instead of somebody else and I think it'll work a little better.... jeff

Jeff, Thanks for the comments. I did a remix with the vocals a little more out front last night, they sound clear to my ears now. As far as the a** thing goes, I ran that by the publisher and he seems to think it's not a problem for now. Just doesn't seem to have the umphhh.. with butt. Butt, if he tells me to change it, I'll do whatever. Thanks again, Brian

Brian, You could sing this song through a tin can and a string and it would still be great! -Ed

You could sing this song through a tin can and a string and it would still be great! I agree with that. In fact, that might just be an interesting effect. "Huh, can't hear you, I'm on my string-can phone, get back to you later, gotta do some fishin'" Mix sounds great.

the publisher and he seems to think it's not a problem for now. J is it for airplay? if not, no biggie. if it is, i'll betcha money they'll make you change it (fear of FCC fines and backlash are rampant over airplay). like the vox mix ... way better. what kind of beer ya got? ;-) jeff

Miller on ice and banana moon pies! I think Toby Keith used the word arse in one of his tunes. I got tired of all the cookie cutter country I've written in the past and decided to shake things up a little. You're probably right though, we'll see in a couple of weeks.

My 2 cents is that people will want to sing along to this and most will WANT to say "ass". There is just something about saying the real thing. I hear it all the time on the radio and TV. Actually hear a lot worse sometimes. It may have to do with what artist is doing the song. Doesn't Toby Keith say, "We'll put a boot in your ass...". Can't imagine that being sung differenty. Not sure how the business works, but I would imagine the artist will either want to say it or not. I laugh everytime I hear that line in the song though. Haven't had a chance to listen to the upated version, looking forward to it tonight.

not to beat a dead-horse .. but you're talking about an established artist ... they get *lots* of leeway... we'll see. believe me, i'd love to be wrong on this one. jeff
