The saying "Money is the root of all evil" is very incorrect.  The actual quote (take from 1 Timothy) is "Love of money is the root of all evil."  Money is to an economy what blood is to a body.  You need it, you need enough of it and, most importantly, it needs to be circulated.  Having too much accumulate in one place (the "Love of" part) causes other areas to not get enough.  
 
So send me a bunch and I'll be sure to spend it for the greater good! 

Craig is correct.  It's the love of specie or money that is at the root of all evil, in that it's far removed from the surplus value of labor.   If you have a piece of wood and then labor to make it into an axe...then *it is good* like God laboring to create the world.  If you simply exchange money for more money (e.g. usury), without having labored then the love of that economy, which is not unlike wall street's is evil.  Right Craig? :D:D
