"Rain Bird"

I always had trouble fitting my songs into that commercial, radio friendly 3 minute format, and this one goes on for more than twice that time. But hey, I never expected to get my songs on the radio anyway, so I'll just write 'em the way I want.
But it is (IMHO) a beautiful song however, with some added "atmosphere" in the mix.  The vocals were recorded at the end of a summer shower, and the birds were just coming out again to sing.  So I stuck a microphone by the window of my studio and recorded the drizzling rain and some birds singing outside.  I think it fit nicely in with the song.

    I like it Lee.
Good for you writing and recording what makes you happy - I feel exactly the same way and all the great recording artists did exactly the same thing.
Listening on crappy speakers so I'll try and listen in the studio again later.

Thanks for listening Daryl.  And yes it would probably sound much better on a good set of speakers, since the bass part is an integral part of the song.

I can't really do three minute pop songs either - my mind just don't seem to work that way.  So I can appreciate different.   And overall I think it works well, alternative without being "alternative".   It's got a nice live feel to it and everything seems well played and balanced.
