addictive drums help please

Got Sonar platinum lifetime installed and testing various synths and audio all seems to be working.
XLN addictive drums is the exception. Went thru the install, chose 2 of this and 3 of that, license was accepted, watched files install....seemed ok to me.

When I add the synth to a project, it opens, I see all the drumkits in a sort of preview mode, saying "read more and buy" for each one. When I choose a kit I hear the samples play, but it says no license.

So what did I mess up....any help appreciated....thanks!!!

Did you go on the XLN website and register/authorise AD successfully?

bristol - yes I did all register there, and the form specifying pc name, # of cores, etc...all went fine.
I just now logged in and again entered our product key, and it says "already registered". So looks like it should be good to go. Their page also highlights the 3 kits I chose during install, all others are greyed out.

When you run the AD2 Installer, does it show all you Adpaks/Midi Paks are up to date?
If yes, try running AD2 in standalone and test out your purchased Adpaks.....if it works here, it should work in Sonar.

mesh - Re-running the installer shows all 3 pack up to date......
ludwig superphonic 402 snare
dw collectors bass drum
premier gen-x bass drum

Running standalone looks identical to running in Sonar. The "audio& midi setup" properties are good and the test button produces a sound.

Poking around more on their website I see that the 3 items the installer shows up to date are actually not adpacks, but are kitpiece packs. Odd, because I remember picking items during the original install in the "adpacks" and "midipacks" categories also.....like it appeared I was supposed to do.

Is that my problem....No adpacks??

That might be it - possibly the adpacks weren't registered.
When i upgraded, i got adpacks, midipacks, and kit pieces for free.

Also, the fact that it fails in standalone suggests it's an issue with the licensing.  If your account page says that your adpacks are registered, you may have to contact their sales support.

It looks that way rufioaz.....

I would double check on what's registered at the XLN site as well as which Adpacks you have available to pick from....
(you probably have 3 adpacks available to choose from).

Thanks everyone!

I did the install for the 4th time, and found a way to re-select the 3 adpacks I chose in the very 1st install. Don't know why it worked this time and not the first time, but it did.

The whole process installing AD2 is very convoluted if you ask me.

But it is now working standalone and within Sonar....so now off to check it out!

It's probably convoluted because you're dealing with two totally separate companies (CW and XLN).

Glad it's working - after years with Superior Drummer, I'm really digging the simplicity of AD2.

Same here, I really like AD2 and have almost all of their adpacks.....of course, I'm lazy when it comes to programming and do like to have good/quick results at my fingertips.

Glad it's working now rufioaz!!
I'm sure you'll like it.......and spend as much time as you can with the Beat Transformer function......you can customize your beats in all kinds of ways.

I am also loving Addictive Drums. I bought BFD3 a couple of years ago, great sounds but can be hard work. AD really does make it a breeze to sketch out entire songs and yes, the beats transformer is great. Also love the way you can audition loops without loading a midi clip into a song. Just brilliant.
