2016.07 Update Required for Theme Editor?

Hi All,

I just downloaded the theme editor (finally!!!), and WOW!  This is excellent!

My question is this - is the Sonar July update required for use of the editor?  (Note: I wait to download updates until they're officially released).  The editor requires .sth theme files, and the 2016.06 update I'm running only has .fth files.  I'm guessing that the 2016.07 pre-release will do some sort of conversion from what each user currently has in their GUI in order to generate .stf files, because there is nothing for the Theme Editor to open in the Platinum installation folder (only .fth files).

So, I'm guessing 2016.07 is required for the theme editor.  Does anyone know this for sure?

Thanks,
Pete

It appears 2016.06 does not know about the user extension or the themes folder in Cakewalk Content. In order to load a user theme into 2016.06 rename the theme extension to fth and copy the theme into the 2016.06 program folder where the TungstenTheme.fth is located.

Thanks scook!  That's what I was figuring.

I was actually trying to do the opposite ... get an fth file into the Theme Editor.  I have a ton of fth mods done with resource hacker, and wanted to see the workflow improvement using the theme editor.  Based on what you said, I tried the converse... took my custom fth theme and renamed the extension to sth.  And ... GOOD TO GO!

And it looks like the theme editor will be a very welcome improvement to the UI mods workflow using resource hacker!

BTW, to load the Tungsten theme into the editor, copy the file to the SONAR Themes folder in Cakewalk Content and rename the extension to sth.

It is easier in 2016.07, there is an Edit button next to the theme drop down in preferences. It is not possible to save changes to the current theme though. It is necessary to change themes in SONAR before saving edits.

edit: I see you already replied and figured out how to modify fth files.

That would make sense if the current theme is already loaded into memory with Sonar open.

Q1) So, is the editor a separate program to Sonar or does it open within Sonar? IOW does Sonar have to be running for it to open?

Q2) Are theme files compressed like zip files or are all the images available in the theme folder?

    It is a separate program.

A Theme is a single file containing all the image and color changes to the default theme (AKA Mercury). Individual images may be exported from and imported into a theme file.
