Metronome going silent, anyone?
I've seen this on two different projects, where the metronome is silent. Toggling the metronome record/play enable changed the behavior on one project but not the other. I'm running S Plat 6/16. I have never seen this before yesterday. I have updated my system from win 8.1 to win 10 recently. I checked problem reports and didn't see anything like this. Has anyone else seen this or having trouble with the metronome being silent? Thanks, Ken

I've never encountered the 'silent metronome' issue other than due to project config/routing issues, but others have reported problems in the past. IIRC, one recently identified solution was to toggle global FX off/on in the Mix module. If that doesn't get it, you should thoroughly check for various possible config/routing issues: - MIDI metronome enabled instead of Audio. - Audio metronome output assigned to wrong bus/port - Metronome bus muted or some other parallel bus is soloed. - Parallel send of metronome is going through an aux track with phase inverted, nulling the direct output. - etc.

Yes - that helped me - turn the fx off then back on - and that may resolve it

I just encountered the "silent metronome" too. Toggling Fx back on/off worked for me. Had never had this happen before.

I had the silent metronome happen to me last weekend which has never happened in over 20 years of using Cakewalk and Sonar. I just brought the Metronome window and closed it and the metronome was silent. Tried reloading the project and rebooting and it was still silent. Rolled back the project to a previous version when it was working and it started working again.

The metronome must have it's output routed someplace. All my projects have a metronome buss and I route it to that. There are a number of metronome options available. If you have it using sampled sounds you have to make sure that the sound files are available. Check all your settings and toggle the master FX button on and off. That should get you going again.

I've had this problem with a couple of projects and nothing I've tried has fixed it. There's a definite bug here. I now have to set up a separate drum track manually to act as a metronome when I start a project. I`ve had every Sonar version since version 1, and it seems to me that since around 8.5 it started getting harder and harder to do anything straightforward with it. I now spend an hour just trying to get a project set up and working, when with earlier versions I was up and running in a minute or two. I get continually frustrated with the stupid `smart`cursor thing -- where before I would click or right-click and know what I was getting, now it`s a mystery and half the time nothing happens.

Looks like the bug is still in 2016.09 Change anything in the Metronome and it goes silent. Toggle Global FX and it's back.

Metronome going silent - I've seen this numerous times in all X versions. Unfortunately I don't have any recipe to repro. Probably there's a small bug in the GroovePlayer.

Suffered "silent metronome" in Platinum 2016.09... I've never seen this before until yesterday I bought Platinum to replace my Professional.... Now metronome work perfectly in Pro but can't fix it in Platinum 201609...

Glad this I wasn't alone in this. And I worked with support on this, who ended up rebuilding my project to fix it. Although it's occurred in later projects . At least it looks like there's a workaround, "Toggle Global FX and it's back"

I had the opposite last night. I opened a project, it wasn't that old,, from June, and the metronome was playing. WTF.. I don't use the metronome much so most of my projects have no metronome buss and both the toggles in the tempo window were off which is my norm. This project would have never used the metronome. I toggled them on and off and it still played-- real loudly too... I had to open the options window and set the output to NONE. But why would it play when all the toggles were off, They were not ticked in the options window either. I opened dozens of projects and only this one did this so I wrote it off as a normal quirky Sonarizim.

Toggling FX worked for me too, thanks. I was scratching my head. I believe it stopped working when I set a loop and then a Punch section.
