Izotope RX 5 and Sonar
Hi I'm considering getting RX 5. Question to those already using it - how well does it integrate into Sonar? Does RX connect work? According to Izotope it shouldn't. https://www.izotope.com/e...connect-faq.html but I'm sure I've read somewhere that it does!

Hi. You could probably use ReWire to get it into SONAR. I have not tried it, so I do not know. Others will know better. All the best.

I don't have the need to use RX Connect with Sonar but the only time I tried it worked flawlessly.

It integrates perfect. We digitaze tapes and vinyl and RX5 is our standard tool for denoising, spectral repair and decrackling. You can also select a region of a audioclip "send" it via "RX Connect" to the RX Editor and send back to SONAR. But you must do it via "RX Connect". The Utilities menu within Sonar doesnt work to send a audioclip to the RX5 editor. The other plugins (Denoizer, Decrackler ...) are working perfect as vst-plugins. So you need the RX-Editor only for spectral repair. Denoizing and Decrackling ... works as vstplugin inside Sonar.
We digitize tapes, vinyl, dat, md ... in broadcast and studio quality for publishers, public institutions and individuals.4 x Intel Quad-CPU, 4GHz Sonar Platinum (Windows 10 - 64Bit) and 14 computers for recording tapes, vinyl ... 4 x RME Fireface 800, 2 x Roland Octa Capture and 4 x Roland Quad Capture, Focusrite .... Thanks for that - good to know.

Hmm... I use the Utilities menu to send clips to RX5 all the time.

You could probably also use Scook's Tools Editor to get RX5 into SONAR. It can be found here.

Update Ok so I took the plunge and got RX5. Glad I waited - took advantage of the sale now on at Izotope I can confirm the RX Connect plug in does work with Sonar although adding it directly to the effects bin doesn't work. (at least didn't for me) To get it to work :- 1. Right click the clip you wish to edit. 2. Select Process Effect>Audio Effects>Restoration>RX Connect 3. In the plug in select Repair>OK This will open the clip in the RX editor. When you've finished editing click send back on the audio tab. A message will appear asking you to open the RX connect plug in your host. 4. Return to Sonar 5. Repeat steps 1-2 above 6. The plug in will now say Press Process to commit changes. Click ok to replace your original clip with the edited one. TOP TIP Make sure the interleave on the track is set to mono if the clip is mono. It seems to convert mono clips to stereo if the interleave is stereo.
