Old Irish Song - Teir Abhaile Riu

Guys,

Here is a quickfire cover of an old Irish song called "Teir abhaile Riu" meaning "Go home with you" (Marys match is made with the band piper!)

Anyway just your thoughts on how it sounds from a fresh perspective, mixes arrangement etc

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bHQB0WgFANc

Curfá
Téir abhaile riú
Téir abhaile riú
Téir abhaile riú, a Mhéaraí
Téir abhaile riú 's fan sa bhaile
Mar tá do mhargadh déanta.

Is cuma cé dhein é nó nár dhein
Is cuma cé dhein é, a Mhéaraí
Is cuma cé dhein é nó nár dhein mar
Tá do mhargadh déanta.

Curfá

Is cuma cé dhein é nó nár dhein
Is cuma cé dhein é, a Mhéaraí
Is cuma cé dhein é nó nár dhein mar
Tá do mhargadh déanta.

Curfá

Pós an piobaire
Pós an piobaire
Pós an piobaire, a Mhéaraí
Pós an piobaire ar dtús na hoíche
Is beidh sé agat ar maidin.

Curfá

Tá do mhargadh
Níl mo mhargadh
Tá do mhardadh déanta
Níl mo mhargadh
Tá do mhargadh
Nil mo mhardadh déanta

Níl mo mhargadh
Tá do mharghad
Níl mo mhardadh déanta
Tá do mhargadh
Níl mo mhargadh
Tá do mhargadh déanta

Curfá
Chorus:
Go home with you
Go home with you
Go home with you, Mary
Go home with you and stay at home
Because your match is made.

TRANSLATION

It doesn't matter who made it or who didn't
It doesn't matter who made it, Mary
It doesn't matter who made it or who didn't
Because your match is made.

Chorus

It doesn't matter who made it or who didn't
It doesn't matter who made it, Mary
It doesn't matter who made it or who didn't
Because your match is made.

Chorus

Marry the piper
Marry the piper
Marry the piper, Mary
Marry the piper early at night
And you'll have him in the morning.

Chorus

Your match is,
My match isn't,
Your match is made.
My match isn't,
Your match is,
My match isn't made.

My match isn't,
Your match is,
My match isn't made.
Your match is,
My match isn't,
Your match is made.

    Cian,

Sounds good to me, always fun to put a new twist on traditional music.  The whistle might be a bit too loud in comparison to the rest of the mix but otherwise very good balance-wise...

    Thanks Mark and John.

I liked the whistle kind of bursting out now and again, but it is probably a little distracting will reduce a bit

Never listened much this particular style, but these performances were awesome.

Sounded good to me, Cian, though I also thought the fife could come back a bit.

Thanks Philz, I thought I had brought it back a bit. Anyway, I like it jumping out a bit anyway. Thanks

It sounds "right" to me!   Nice job.   I liked that little bit of growl on some of the words...

I listened to this a few days ago, Cian...it sounded like very mono or something. Like it could have been panned a little wider or something. I'm not hearing that now....glad I didn't post and make a fool of myself.

Anyway, this is great! Loved all of it. Uplifting, well mixed and you once again showing how versatile you are and how well you wear the many hats in the styles of music you perform. Well done man!

Right after your video the Celtic Women came on.  Your version of this tune had equal impact on my heart.  I have been told since a child that we are English and Irish with a splash of Cherokee.  I do know that when I listen to your song and the Celtic Women I get a sense of having been there.  Never have.  That says a lot for your music, imho.  And THEN, their version of Danny Boy brought tears to my eyes.  You are very talented, Cian and this music shines!  Thank you.

Fellas thanks a bunch for all feedback.

Danny, I prob had made a few tweaks since the final version, Im sure the one before that was pretty mono and I spotted it.

Warren, great to think I might be in the same league! those women have beautiful voices ill have to say that
