Piece By Piece

An original that grew out of 2 chords and a lot of back and forth with my favorite lyric/vocal collaborator.  She provided lyrics, vocal and acoustic guitar.

Nice one Bob. Singer is good, she sounds like a cross between Lyndsey De Paul and Chrissie Hynde. Very crisp recording and mix.

Sounds good, Bob!    Happy, catchy groove with a nice clear mix that suits it well.      Just need an ending.

I actually hear a softer version of the band Eve's Plum. Nice job.

Good tune. There is something in the mix that I am having a problem with and I don't know what it is.  Thin sounding or something.  Since I am not good at mixing I am not good at explaining.  I like it a lot so it could just be that it is different.  Girl sings nicely.

I like the laid back feel, especially the guitar solo.  Anytime we get to hear a female singer on this forum I consider it a plus.  I can't wait for the 25th anniversary mix!

I like simple song structure, and this one has a really nice laid back feel to it.  Nice work.

I like this also, well done Bob. Mix was good and the song and structure came out really good considering you wrote this starting with two chords. Gotta love how that happens. :) I once wrote a song in parts that were all over the place. I used Sonar's Matrix option, threw all the pieces in and just messed around with their placement until I was happy, pressed the record button in the Matrix and it spit out a song. LOL!

Only crit: Effect on the vocals sounded a little strange. Chorused or something? When a lady (in my opinion) has a good voice, *I* try not to color it much unless absolutely necessary. It's not bad, it's just a bit phasey/chorusy sounding to my ears. Well done though!

Thanks Danny.  Good feedback.  The only effect I used on the vocal was to kick in the VX-Vocal doubler for the chorus parts.

That will be another tweak for the 25th Anniversary remaster
