Caution about dealing with Michiel Post for EastWest products

Just a heads up.

According to EastWest - Michiel Post has not been associated with their company for over 2 years.
So if he's giving you a deal on EastWest product and something goes south you are on your own.

I ordered Platinum Piano's back in April and never received the product.
I never received a tracking # for the shipment and he would not respond to inquiries about it.
When he finally did get back to me, months later, it was to say that he was now out of stock but if I purchased the EastWest Pro Harddrive (http://www.soundsonline.com/CCC-PRO-HD) that he would provide the registration code and compensate me with additional licenses for other product.
I purchased the drive (about $150 with tax & shipping) and he provided the reg code but I have not heard from or been able to get a response from him since and that was on June 22nd.

I have treated him in a professional manner but have not received the same treatment.
At this point it's appears that he has no plans to either respond to my inquiries or honor his commitment.

Best regards,
...Steven

I think there were some mix ups indeed, but he came through for me where needed. I do believe he's out of the loop now, so you may want to try and reach him through a forum PM of sorts, like KVR. He was the guy behind the PMI pianos, now at Sampletekk. Next he worked for EastWest and now he's gone, but he seems an upright guy.
    Edith: yup.

Send him a message and remind him that mail fraud is a felony. Might get his attention.

If he never sent any (snail) mail, is e-mail fraud a felony?

I've stopped dealing with EastWest all together. They are simply a terrible company that makes good products but the fact that you can't get support really drags the quality of their products down. It doesn't surprise me in the least that this person isn't returning emails. I swear that is something they look for during the interview process:

EastWest: How are you about returning emails?
Applicant: I'm pretty bad at doing any sort of customer service.
    EastWest: YOU'RE HIRED!

    lol

Michiel was taking a week or more just to read his KVR PMs.
At this point they're just sitting in his in box.

Email he never responded to, KVR PMs feel like he was charting out things on a logarithmic graph when to read.

If you never received a product you paid for, the best first path is to file with the FTC. I already drilled into the most applicable page based on the OP, but feel free to navigate all over their site. If you paid but did not receive product OR refund, please check them both.

Good question Ed. It's one of those things that I imagine will be put to a challenge at some point. I think it would be difficult to say it isn't mail since most businesses are choosing to do invoicing this way and charge a premium for an actual invoice with a stamp.

As for EastWest support, I've always been quite happy with them, particularly Joey Medina.

Ya I dumped them as well. Their sound quality is fantastic but the rest is crap. I have lots of issues with their software and they won't fix it. They seem to believe that it can't be fixed because they believe  they have "the best programmer in the industry" (like they've actually said this). If they have an issue they can't figure out how to fix they just ignore it, deny it, or blame it on you. They perpetually seem to imply you need a better system, even when you have a positively beastly system (which I do). After I started talking more about it on the forum, they shadowbanned me because Doug Rogers (the owner) has a pretty brittle ego.

So I dumped them, and recommend everyone else avoid them.

If they had a Kontakt quality engine and dumped PACE, I think they would vastly increase their sales. I wonder if NI's step into the orchestral world is a setup to go with a subscription setup like Composer cloud?

As far as support and awesome software VSL is top notch.  I emailed their support on a Saturday and was shocked to get a reply in minutes.
EastWest will ban complaints on their forum.  EastWest stuff is great too, BTW. Some people have problems with it. I don't but I'm nowhere near the advanced user to find those problems.

My previous purchases were through Amazon.
This particular deal was handled entirely through PayPal.
He emailed me a PayPal invoice, etc. so I think I have up to 6 six months to file a grievance (if I understood their latest policy update correctly) if needed.
It's just frustrating that I should have to go that route.
