Sunset Beach
Newest track, I've managed to find a little time to compose this piece. Old job came to an end very quickly and things got a bit panicky. Things worked out for the best and now I've been able to get back to writing, be it not as much as I'd like. As always, I'm interested in where this piece takes you. Also apologise for not being here as much as I'd like. I'll catch up with you tracks this week. Thanks :) https://soundcloud.com/russ-white/sunset-beach

That's really cool! Such a blend of sounds, creates its own territory. You've got the kitchen sink in here, and everything seems like it's in the right place. So, for an idea, what are you using for your primary bass sound? It seemed to want to fill up some of the 500hz territory and maybe above - if so you might eq it a little more drastically and remove those mids from the bass. I wonder if it would make the midrange shine a little clearer? Kick drum or equivalent, if you have one, was kind of buried for me, you might give that a boost. Hagia Sophia! -Tom

Hiya Gus, This piece has a lot of very emotive themes going for it. If it were me, I'd save those busy drums for a middle section and use simpler straight up beat for the opening. Nice bass throughout, good complementary choices. Maybe could use some gentle percussion in spots... Regards, Dan

Nice music, GusRuss! I have been away for a long time and thought I remembered a different genre when I saw your name. Maybe you are multi-genre. Anyway, this is nice work. Oh, toward the end, I think a lead instrument of some type, or more vocals would have filled nicely. Just a thought.

That is a cool piece... not one thing nor the other, but a nice combination. Like Tom said it's the kitchen sink, but all the appliances work well together. Mix-wise the only thing I wasn't crazy about was the tone of the snare. Though I can't point to a reason or what I'd change. Everything else though just seemed about right. Oh... and I loved when the violin came in solo. Great emotion there.

Nice arrangement - loved the drums and violin in particular. Not sure if it's deliberate but there's something odd in the right channel between 2:27 and 2:30 which doesn't sound quite right to my ear - a kind of low fluttering noise. AMB
