Update worked OK here
Did have to reauthorize XLN stuff. A fairly painless process.
iLok protected software checks out OK (I do not use a dongle ATM).

same here, upgrade hasn't broken anything apart from xln activation (re-activation required) ilok software works fine as does NI, Waves, Spitfire, Izotope, Zynaptiq, IK to name the main ones out of the bapu like numbers I own. I have the ninja cat wallpaper to look at as well!

Looks like more work for DAW users to disable.
One thing that hasn't changed is Windows is the amount of midi devices. I never thought I would reach that limit but I did.
Looks like I will have to install Classic Shell again.

It does blow up Steinberg's garbage "soft elicenser" which is no huge surprise since that is exceedingly paranoid DRM. The actual dongle still works fine, of course, but if you have a license in the "soft" part you'll lose it. So make sure you remove those first (or better yet, don't use it). I don't keep any licenses on it, but the manager whines about it being "unrecoverable".
Everything else seems happy. Melodyne, Waves, FXPansion, Overloud, Vegas, none of them seem fussed or want to reactivate. As other reported, the iLok manager didn't whine (I also don't keep any licenses on it, all of them are on the hardware).
All non-DRM'd stuff works no problem, of course.
Also instead of Classic Shell, I recommend Start 10. Much better start menu replacer. Costs more, but not a lot.
Final thing to remember is that it will drop a Windows.old directory with rollback stuff on your drive. Eats up 20+GB so once you are confident in the upgrade and don't want to roll back, you should remove it with Disk Cleanup.

Win10 1607 update enforces signed kernel drivers for at least new installs. This is pretty significant, imo, so I'll wait a bit.
Sonar Platinum, EWHO/D, Spitfire, Miroslav, Pianoteq, ...., Kurzweil.

Only if you have secure boot enabled. If you have secure boot disabled you can continue to use 3rd party signed drivers.
All kernel drivers do have to be signed, by MS or a 3rd party, but that has been true since Vista.

But if you’re more into building PCs than tweaking desktop settings, one new Anniversary Update feature will be an absolute treasure. Windows 10 now allows you to tie your operating system license to your Microsoft account, rather than the specific hardware inside, using a new tool dubbed “Activation Troubleshooter.” That means diehard system tinkerers should be able to reactivate their license easily, with fewer pesky calls to Microsoft support, in the event of a motherboard and processor upgrade. That sound you just heard was a legion of hardcore DIY PC geeks sighing in collective ecstasy.

I like this: The Windows installation screen will contain more information than before, for example, and you’ll be able to comment in the Feedback Hub and tell Windows not to install updates during specific hours.

So the license continues with a change in motherboard? Very significant...

There are some new features in this that I really like. Setting up hours "not to update" and being able to add drives and CPU without it showing up as a new computer are huge.

I'm deferring the update for now on all my computers. I'm not too happy with the way MS is doing things right now. I was one of the biggest supporters of 10 but now I'm really questioning their actions (and in some cases, lack of actions) and overreaching what they should be focusing on as an OS. I'm to the point of even switching my personal machine to Linux because MS has been seemingly half-assing everything they have done for 10, removing features, making it impossible to shut things off such as Cortana without having to edit the registry... it's an absolute mess.

Did the upgrade with only a couple bumps discovered so far. Ilok doesn't start without manual start. Classic Shell is toasted, but the dev has quickly responded to the problem. Ver 4.3.0 works fine with the anniversary update. Cheap bastard here, so sticking with the freebie now that it works again. http://www.classicshell.net/ John
