The cwb format is still supported. The best thing to do is try the demo. It will require a machine running a newer OS than XP. If the bundles/projects were built on a 32bit platform using DX plug-ins, it will be necessary to open them in 32bit SONAR or the plug-ins will not be loaded.

Also, "correctly open" involves having all the same plugins installed. If you upgrate your computer, older plugins that came with 6PE will not be included in Professional. You would need to install both Sonar's to use the exact same plugins, otherwise you can just delete them and use current plugins instead.
Sonar Platinum, Gigabyte H87-HD3, Intel 4770k, 16Mb Ram, Win 10 Pro, RME Babyface Pro, Roland A-Pro 800, Presonus Studio Channel, Kemper Profiling Amp, Strat/Tele/LesPaul/Taylor 214ce/Dean Cadillac/P-Bass

also, iirc, bun doesn't include... automation? something like that, there's something bun format leaves out

Are you confusing Audiosnap with automation? Bundle files do not store Audiosnap data. Was Audiosnap around when Cakewalk DAWs used the bun extension?

I have never had a problem opening a bun file or a cwb file in any version of Sonar.
