Audio glitches every few seconds after Windows 10 Anniversary update.
Hello guys! Do you have similar problems after installing Windows 10 anniversary update (1607)? The glitches happen no matter if I just playback the song in Windows Media Player, VLC, YouTube in every browser or open a project and just hit the playback button in Sonar Platinum. It's really annoying. I have a Roland Studio-Capture audio interface, Intel i5 6600K CPU, 16GB 2400MHz DDR4 RAM, 512GB Crucial SSD so everything should play flawlessly on this setup.. I went back to the previus version of Windows 10 (before the update) and everything's fine but I don't want to miss security patches etc. included in this update. Anybody knows how to solve this issue or have the same kind of issue after the update?

I haven't had audio glitches, but have had two blue screens since the update...and never had any before with Windows 10. So there may be something wrong under the hood, hopefully there will be a patch soon. You might want to check if Windows was "helpful" and re-enabled drivers you'd disabled.

Looks like I have to wait for a few weeks until it'll be fully fixed and then enable windows update again.

Unless you are on the Pro or Enterprise version, you may not have a choice (short of unplugging from the net). What you can try is go into settings and click that you are on a metered connection. That should stop it from updating at all.

I have updated both my desktop and laptop. Both are working OK, even with Sonar Plat. I've had the Anniversary update for a couple of weeks as I'm in the "insider" program and get pre-releases early. The current pre-release version is the exact same as the Anniversary update. I've been using Sonar with it for two weeks without problems. The only thing I had to do was reauthorize AD2. However, "Murphy's Law" applies to anything including the update.

I should clarify that the blue screens did not happen when using SONAR, which so far has been running fine on my laptop after the update. Haven't updated my desktop yet.

So it doesn't appear to be a generic problem. Time to have a dig around under the workstation hood I think :-)

This update will enable many things that were previously disabled. All my video and onboard sound devices were turned on again, so a conflict could be possible. No issues here because I knew this would happen and reset everything before I did any audio work. You have to go through all the system settings and check them along with a look at the device manager to see if audio or wi-fi hardware was reset.

I have no issues here at all. If anything it seems to be smoother. That is highly speculative on my part. It works well that is for sure. I did upgrade Wordperfect from X5 to X8. LOL I have the anniversary upgrade on two machines at present. Both work well.

Thank you guys! I will try re-installing this update again and try to find the source of problem in two days since I have to record drums tomorrow and have everything running perfectly so I have to stay with the stable previous version of Win10 until then.

I reinstalled the update today and just after that I noticed that the Windows turned on NVIDIA audio drivers again. I needed to turn them off. You can take a look where is it if you have a problem like I did (it's Device Manager). After turning those Nvidia audio drivers off everything's fine fortunately and audio glitches are gone.

Whoops, I was happy too early.. Those glitches just came back. :/ Take a look at this guys, maybe someone can help? EDIT It looks like those glitches are gone for some time and they like to come back for a couple of minutes and then everything's ok etc. EDIT 2 Second time I launched LatencyMon it showed me 2240 hard pagefaults from wudfhost.exe just in 31 seconds. It seems to be the one that is causing audio glitches. Anyone knows how to fix it?

"every few seconds" is a prime indicator of "Automatic Network Discovery" being enabled for Wi-Fi. Not sure if is in the same spot on Win10, but there are posts here about that.

Yesterday I updated BIOS, motherboard chipset drivers, network card drivers, graphics card drivers and it seems to be a lot better now. There are ocassional glitches from time to time but it's way better than it was before. [EDIT] It looks like finally audio glitches are gone after next reboot. They appeared mainly because of the outdates motherboard and network card drivers. Now the playback's very smooth again!
