I couldn't resist - 4K display is on the way

I checked out some in person at COSTCO yesterday, researched more this am and ordered one:

$380 at COSTCO -- https://www.vizio.com/e43ud2.html

The only bad comments I could find had to do with the remote not doing enough, full remote features being implemented via a phone/tablet app.  I will only be using as a display, so none of that matters to me.  I also found a comment about off-axis viewing.  Again, not a problem for my application.

The physical size is almost exactly twice the height and width of the two displays I'm using now, so I'm expecting things to appear the same physical, but I'll have the equivalent of 4 of the same displays with no "seams".

I'm hoping this will solve the problem of no folders in CV

Do they make a touch screen that big?

The cool thing about smart phone remote capability is you can operate almost any TV anywhere you go.

That looks pretty sweet Bob. Did you connect with HDMI? If so, did you have to get a special HDMI cable to get that high resolution?  I kind of thought all HDMI cables were all the same but I was just looking at them and apparently they have different limits on resolutions. I'm just trying to figure out if that is just a marketing ploy or not??

My SUHD 4k Samsung TV says this:
The following types of HDMI cables are recommended:
● High-Speed HDMI Cable
● Use an HDMI cable with a thickness of 0.66 inches (17 mm) or less.
● Using a non-certified HDMI cable may result in a blank screen or a connection error.
● Some HDMI cables and devices may not be compatible with the TV due to different HDMI specifications.
● Use a cable shorter than 10 feet (3m) to get the best UHD viewing quality.

So I guess there IS a difference.

Oh, and "high-speed HDMI Cable" means HDMI 2.0.

Google "TV vs monitor" and you'll see most of the issues revolve around display lag which is important for click/shoot/twitch gaming. There seems to be no issue with more static displays like from a DAW. Do you care if it takes 40msec to update the display in Sonar? Prob not, I'm thinking.

The previous monitor was connected HDMI, so I'm just using the same cable.  The display came with one, but I haven't swapped them out.  I should do that ... because I can

Cable swap didn't change things.  I was already using a super-duper HDMI cable.  I also added a set of legs to replace the corner feet.  This allowed me to set the height exactly where I want it and makes it easier to position on the desk as the legs are closer together.

These are VERY sturdy and easy-peazy to attach
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013PKPP24

Now that I have had time to experiment with using all of these pixels, I don't think I could ever go back to what I thought was awesome before.

Physical size-wise, I got really close to keeping objects the same size.  I was afraid of making things too tiny so I went larger rather than smaller.  I could've gotten away with maybe 2 or 3 inches smaller, but being able to see things clearly while backed away/leaned back is really nice.

My new 17" laptop has 4k but @17" w/100% scaling it's useless. Oddly it has an auto scale feature so initially you don't see any change. 3840x2160 autoscales to 250% so it looks like 1920x1080. Range is 100 to 500%.

My new laptop has 4k and 15.8" and same here, 100% scaling is useless.  but mine defaults to 150% and it's actually pretty usable this way.

oh - but I also have my browsers magnified 150% too, so that makes a difference as well.
