Recording "backwards" reverb

I'm sure there's an easy way to do this, but I haven't had any luck searching for information.

Back when recording was done with magnetic tape, we could turn the tape over and then record reverb so that when the tape was flipped back right-side-up, the reverb would be heard BEFORE the track. It was a cool effect now and then.  You could add these "swoosh" sounds on tom-toms.

How do I do this in the world of digital recording?  It should be so much simpler, but I'm at a loss.

I often use clip fx for this because it's almost always just an effect on a small part of the vocal. I find bounce to clip easier/faster.
