New song (with video no less!)

Haven't posted here in a while, but I made my first vid and thought I'd share.  Sort of a hybrid "making of" kind of vid. There is a nice shot of Sonar in there, as well as my awesome "studio" (tiny ass room barely big enough for a camera and a mic stand!).  Thanks for watching/listening.

Cool song, and I like your vocal, it's got a good quality to it. Pink Floyd territory, which I bet I'm not the only one to pick up on . . . still nice and original. Congrats also on the video, I think it came out pretty well, but maybe a couple of sync moments you could look at, picture off just a hair in spots.

Guitar arpeggio is very haunting, well played and well recorded.

Very Floyd-y, I'm not afraid to admit it.  The video sync thing was way harder than I though it would be.  Sonar's slip editing is great, and the software I used (which I am NOT very good at using) did not seem to be as easily precise about editing.  I got pretty close.  Anyway, thanks for the kind words.

    Scott,

Fantastic track and video.  Definitely some Pink Floyd influence there, but, original nonetheless.   I might add a bit more stereo delay to the guitar solo, but, really good mix as is.   Vocals were really good.   Your camera man credits at the end were pretty funny.   Really enjoyed it all.

I loved this - and have no idea how you made the video, well done! Vocals and guitar are great. I wonder if you could make more of the stereo space (I'm listening on 'phones). We're all influenced by something, so yeah, Floyd, one of best. Great stuff.

Really well put together - both video and song.  My only gripe is at 14 seconds in where you change chord in the video but it doesn't correspond to a chord change in the song.  Am I being too picky? :)

Thanks all.  The vid was really a challenge.  Just when I got a really good handle on most of the complexities of Sonar (after many years), I have to go and introduce a NEW hard as hell and complex program.  I'm an idiot.

And ANTMAN, I hate that stupid shot at .14 too! I was so happy to get the arpeggio synced right that I didn't realize until it was too late that the clip was in time, but was a measure off.  I had no idea had to switch the clip without messing up everything else later in the song.  So no, you are not being to picky!

Nice one Scott. 'He has the patience of clay' is a good line. The video was well done, but you might want to grimace more to get the mood across, less of that smiling

Getting the Floyd vibe here to, nice tune with some interesting lyrics, the guitar arp has a slightly disturbing quality.  Thanks for sharing.

Wow!! Loved it and your vocals just smoothly fit in with the song very well......great job!! Enjoying it for the 3rd time (listening on h-phones) and the mix was very pleasant and clear....a treat to my ears. Well done Scott!!

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I tried to keep the mix as simple as possible.  No parallel compression, no fancy 3rd party plugs.  It was Sonar Prochannel stuff for all the compression and EQ.  All guitars were TH3 and drums were AD2 (the Indie kit).  Turns out less is more sometimes!

    Noice one.

The sync thing was terribly annoying to me so I just watched some pourn while I listened.

That was really good...   As already mentioned very Floyd-like, but still original.  It just sounds good.  I think the chord changes used in the chorused guitar arps give it that disturbing and melancholy thing, and it works so well.   But the vocals are right up there too.

Love it!  Just the perfect air of creepyness to it, especially with the woodsy shots on the vid.  Halloween type of stuff.
