Replacing my 896mk3 with??

Hello. After a PC upgrade that have set me to a x99 motherboard and a 6core Intel i7 cpu, ssd harddrives, 32gb ddr4 mem. I feel like my 896mk3(firewire) is the bottleneck in my setup, especially regarding latency.
I'm thinking about buying an add-in card so I get thunderbolt ports, and buy a 4ch interface like the focusrite 4pre. But since this isn't supported by Windows, I'm running a little short on which interfaces that support thunderbolt and does a good job on a PC and sonar platinum.
Any tips or tricks here? Or is it a better solution to use a pcie interface or just a newer usb3/firewire interface?
Thank you in advance

I have an 896mk3 Hybrid which is Firewire or USB.  I have it connected USB.
Latency, as reported by Sonar Platinum, with 64 samples
    Input 2.7msec 121 Samples
    Output 3.3msec 146 Samples
    Total Roundtrip 6.1msec 267 Samples.

Going with the Hybrid version you wouldn't have to change any software or how you are doing things.
