Theme Gurus: I Need a Little Help

I’m working on a bright, more monochromatic look and trying to figure out which parameters change the following elements (outlined in various colors):

Light green: the background over which the control bar modules sit
Orange, ProChannel effect header: I want to make this black
Red, sends lettering: Can the text be white?
Purple, FX sliders: Can the text colors be changed? I want the sliders to be black, but then the text needs to be white.
Dark blue: I want to be able to change the Event Draw Duration to black-on-white.

Can anyone help? Oh, and just for grins, here's what I have so far for the Control Bar.

Here's a shot of the screen. I made a few tweaks to the graphic elements - for example, making the T, L, and O bigger on the automation write buttons. Also, I made Mono interleave and Phase Reverse red so I could parse them easily when scanning console view.

Interesting. Might I suggest the theme name "Planet Hoth" when it's done?

Totally has the ESB icebase/battle feel to it.

"Dark blue: I want to be able to change the Event Draw Duration to black-on-white."

The font is shared with the Track view weirdly. It's called "Focused Track Text", with 'Menu Button" listed under Control Bar

"Orange, ProChannel effect header: I want to make this black"
It's the same colours as console channels. "Unfocused strip background" and when you click on it, "Focused Track Background"

Red, sends lettering: Can the text be white?

The color for Sends is in Theme Editor: Global>Horizontal Sliders.

But it's also the color for - surprise - the Horizontal Sliders in Track View.

The only one I am not sure can be changed is Light Green.

The easiest way I have found to locate items is pull up Tungsten in the Theme Editor, click the view tab and set the filter for modified. Then open your working theme in another instance and apply the same filter. This lets you see what you have not modified which was modified in Tungsten.

For example dark blue are a series of images in Control Bar > Modules > Snap which need the 4 image altered. I was looking at snap settings and not Tools Module.

I've modified the background colors to a distinct purple. There aren't so many blacks for me to look through. I think the black background is fixed on the Control bar

"ESB"? Extra Special Bitters?

Hi Craig,

I'm with scook on Light Green; I don't think that one can be changed.

The color behind the button text on dark blue is under control bar>modules>snap. But then, you probably knew that.

Re: Theme Gurus: I Need a Little Help 2016/08/07 23:05:57 (permalink)
Noticing your Transport Module now time slider (#3374?) has a black border around it. Might look better if it matched the gray BG.

"Orange, ProChannel effect header: I want to make this black" - Tungsten theme is black(ish). Can it be extracted from there?

Ideally, one color location should affect only one item, but so far Sonar hasn't been coded that way.
I've worked tirelessly with Duckbar's EXE-Color editor to find background, text and slider colors. Some colors only affect one view but some affect more than one view. Some will change items in different views that are unrelated. In X1-3 many view BGs are comprised of graphics and exe color settings (Inspector, Browser & Track view, etc.).
I imagine this is still the case unless Cake addressed these internally.

It's a pretty fair bet that all your buttons will be graphic files. Background & text colors are embedded within the sonar.exe file.

I'm watching this thread since I've also been working on a light theme, though a little different than Craig's.   While I actually prefer the new darker themes with fairly saturated icon colors, it's nice to have an alternative.

The blue button (1/4) next to the word SONAR, is located - control bar / modules.
Scroll right down past modules folders until you see PNG files, the (menu) button is fourth up from the bottom.
Hope this helps.

First, thanks to the tips above, which helped a lot. As an update, here's what the step sequencer looks like. Don't hold your breath, it will take me a long time to finish this theme! It actually has a utilitarian purpose - I want to create something super-visible for when I'm doing seminars and workshops, so that even people in the back can see what's happening.

This theme will be popular in Europe. I'm also reminded of some old Roland drum synths I used to have. Very cool.

Very observant, I wanted this to have a modular synthesizer feel...sort of Doepfer meets Oberheim SEM.

Really cool theme! I love the eq knobs! That red matches the only thing I have done in the ProCh. The power button is that same red! :)

Nice work Craig!
I tried to get that look last night but...
Wondering how you got the knobs to frost over like that? The knobs are not fun to deal with... lol

Peace!
EDIT...

I think I have it figured out, and of course took it too far.. Ha!

Light green: the background over which the control bar modules sit

I think I may have learned why the Control Bar Background can't be changed even though it's listed in TE. The item marked "Master Control Bar Background" is actually the Track View's upper corners. Something I searched for tirelessly in Duckbar to no avail.

This means the item is mis-ID'd. Please don't remove it, just rename it and add the Control Bar Background to the list.
