Professional vs Platinum????
Can anyone give me their opinion if the difference in cost for platinum is worth it? I'm not very good at mixing/eq so the extra tools in platinum would not be helpful/useful to me. I currently use X2 and do very little with eq/effects cause I'm still learning. I'm using 3rd party VST instruments so I wouldn't use the extra instruments. I know platinum offers lifetime updates but I don't update often. Thanks everyone for your reply. Dave

If you are producing music with it, you should learn to get better at mixing/adding effects (eq, compression, reverb, etc). The tools in Plat make life easier to get pro sounding results in my experience. I'm not talking about spending all day with minor tweaks, It is just easier to take the sounds you have recorded an make the whole thing sound more professional. If you are on X2 Professional, I would seriously consider the upgrade if the funds are available to you. I was on X3 Professional, then Upgraded to Producer when a pretty good deal came along to do so. Then upgraded to Plat Lifetime. Previously I was running an older version of Sonar. The upgrade was certainly worth it for me, and I look forward to not needing to be worried about future system compatibility. All the needed tools are there.

you can compare versions here https://www.cakewalk.com/Products/SONAR/Versions my advise is to keep in mind the price difference, which an upgrade from X2 is only 100 dollar difference and think about your level of experience okay..but think about what's going to happen in a few years when you get more experienced. your going to want more tools. (I've been there man) you wont get the theme editor, vocal synch and a lot of the pro channel modules wont be included.

When you factor in savings via Platinum Lifetime (offer ending the end of this month), I don't think there's a contest. Get Platinum and you probably still will save in a long run. If you even upgrade once, I think you'll be equal or ahead financially. And if you're learning, you will eventually use EQ and FX. You will probably get better and then you'll want/need those to make your mixes and mastering better. So, going to Platinum now might pay off sooner rather than later. Offered in the spirit of FWIW.
“Beer is proof God loves us and wants us to be happy” is attributed to Benjamin Franklin perhaps in error, but the thought remains a worthy sentiment nonetheless.

Hi. I can only agree with the advice given so far. There are so many things for you to explore in the future, if you decide to go with the lifetime upgrade to SONAR Platinum. There is something new almost every month. All the best.

Ditto to the above... you don't have to immediately use everything that's available, but knowing it's there when you do is a good thing. Not to mention the $$ differential for the next few weeks.

Lifetime Updates instead of $$$ every year just to stay current and get support. No brainer.

Good day, Better to have what you don't need, than to need what you don't have. An extra $100 was a no brainier for me to. I have Spro, now I have Splat too. Woohoo😎
