Scan VST button is grayed out

Hey guys,

I have yet another problem with Sonar Steam edition and I feel like regretting the day I bought Sonar via Steam. After Rapture has failed to work, now Scan VST button is grayed out and I cannot scan my new VST plugins. I deleted the user folder to force Sonar recreate user folder again -running sonar.exe while holding shift- and it didn't give me peace. Consequently I tried manually deleting the user folder without any luck.
I hope to find a solution to this daunting problem.

Which version of SONAR steam are you running? Make sure you install the 07 release.

Hi please try holding down CTRL when starting SONAR then let it personalize. This may address it.
If not open regedit and navigate to this key (assuming you are using the X64 version of SONAR)
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR\Cakewalk VST X64

Then check the "VSTScanPath" string. It should point to the VST scanner exe. If that path is wrong or the exe has been moved somehow then you will have this problem.

This issue most often happens when your antivirus software mistakes VstScan.exe as a virus and quarantines it. If that is the case you should add that file to your safe list. Some AV programs are over aggressive and throw false alarms like this.

Oh thank you Noel, that did the trick! A different path was assigned to the VST scanner exe and most probably that was my fault for I move my Steam folder to another HDD a while ago.

Thank you again, you made my day!
