So it's a drum yes?
You would mix it in the same way you'd mix any other drum - in context with the rest of the instrumentation.

eq and parralel processing... good luck, mayby you could elaborate more .... remember, it will depend offcourse how you recorded the dholak, but sharpening the "soer" side (snare side) will affect the sound of "bam" (bassdrum) side. maybe you can try lowering (resonant) bass frequencies so the sharpness would get more room...

Are you using Dhoak loop or you want to record?
If you are recording use 2 mics for left and right and you will be able to EQ better.
Please use two mono tracks for the two mics.

This is a totally wide open question and depends on SO many other things.
What other instruments are in your mix?
Mixing a single track in isolation will never, ever give the correct result as it needs to be mixed in context with the rest of the instruments.

tareeq, i will try... you are asking for a one off solution and actually it will always depend on the recording, type song, tempo, etc....
Eq, put an equlizer on your dholak track....try to remove some bass ( 80 - 120 Hz )and listen if your dholak gets a bit sharper, now for the sake of the example route the dholak to a parralel buss. put on a eq or maybe even a exciter.... look for the frequency you want around 1000 Hz and up the higher you the snapier (but also thinner) the sound gets.
u can put al sorts of processors on the dholak buss, I would also just slightly compress on track and slam the buss track, that way you get the dholak sound but still preserve transients.... hope this helps
maybey you could put an example op on soundcloud or something so we would know what you are trying to achieve without much guessing...

Tariq, nice song. i thing the dholak sounds a bit "tincan" so I guess a bit less compression and a less boosting of the mids and mayby try a higher frequency than now to boost.

Hi Tariq, To be honest I have no idea, you should listen ! A pitched drum like a dholak wil have frequencies shift/move as the pitch is changed. But as a thumb rule with a dholak you could say: Sub bas: 60-80 Hz bas: 100 - 260 Hz mid: 640 - 1200 Hz High: 2000 Hz and up Mayby you could send me your dhalak track and I could have a look. Maybe this could help:   found these googling not sure there could be Copyright issues.

Listen to your Dholak track. You are using loop for that, I suppose.
Then gradually unmute other tracks one at a time. look for any interference. By the way what are the other instruments you are using?
Start using hi-pass filter. Have you studied the Pro Channel?
