Axiom 49 keyboard and Platinum

I'm still putting everything back together, and the latest addition was hooking my Axiom 49 up to SONAR. Whatever I've done, at least I can see a signal when I hit the keys. But I still can't get any sound. I've tried some video tutorials, but the first one I watched is video only...no sound...and I can't really see what the guy is doing. I haven't been able to solve anything by watching anything else.

Is there a good thread here, or a good video here or on YouTube, about connecting an Axiom 49 to SONAR? Or is there some simple trick to routing it so I get sound? It's showing a good, strong level, but I haven't been able to find the magic menu and specific selection to get sound.

Thanks in advance.

this is for setting up act to use the controls.

for output, if its plug and play simply select the device in preferences first, then check your routing.

I'm not sure if I had this hooked to SONAR, but it was hooked to Pro Tools 9 and 10 and worked fine. I've had it about 4 years, I'd guess.

Have you inserted a soft synth and set the output of the MIDI track with the "good, strong signal" to that soft synth?
Or, do you have an external sound module and set the MIDI track to that output?

You just need to enable Input Echo. By default, you don't hear a soft synth or sampler's output during recording (and there are practical reasons for making that the default).

Also make sure the track's MIDI channel is set to the same channel as the Axiom, or to Omni. Some software instruments require you to use channel 1 (or channel 10 for some drum samplers).

There's nothing special about the Axiom controller. I use one here.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.
