LP MB inducing severe latency when I record my final mix take for example
I have noticed recently that the LP MB plugin is inducing severe latency issues when I record a version of my mix, incuding soft synths, instruments and vocal audio tracks and midi controlled instruments linked to my mixer. The result was midi controlled instruments out of synchro during recording and leading to a very messy take. It seems that the midi is ahead of the internal audio. Two instances of the LP MB were inserted in my project and I have been forced to remove them and to replace them by a Wave multiband compressor plugin to retrieve normal performance. I want to point out that my project was not particularly overloaded with many plugins and soft synths instances. Have you noticed similar issue with LP MB?

Linear Phase plugs are cpu hogs. You can change a setting under the advanced tab to turn off lp for less cpu usage. Rocky

I could be wrong, but I thought the LP MB should be used during mixing not while recording. I believe all LP type plugs will introduce latency.

whenever I record, I turn off all fx and prochannel on the master bus (and 2-buss if you send many tracks to that). The heavy-duty plugs on those busses make it impossible to monitor/record. I also change the output direct to the speakers sometimes, usually when recording guitars. When I'm done, change everything back. It's just like 3-4 clicks to do it so it's not a big deal.

By design LP plug-ins require a look ahead buffer to work. This causes the latency you are experiencing. As mentioned above usually linear phase plug-ins are not intended to be used while tracking. The good news is, Cakewalk added the ability to change compression algorithm used by the plug-in. In the expert section, set the Precision to Non Linear while tracking to eliminate the latency. Or use the PDC button in the Mix module to temporarily disable plug-in delay compensation.

Yep, LP (old and new) are awesome plugs, but latency is the price :O)

Maybe the default for these should have Linear Phase disabled and when enabled it diplays "Readahead buffer latency added: xxx.xxms"? Can't believe how many posts I see regarding this every week... Dan

Or, during the arming process, SONAR could alert the user to what the current PDC value is (simple display)... Would be icing on the cake if detailed by track/plugin.
