custom Pro Channel modules / new ones ?

Hey,

I'm new to Sonar and really like the Pro Channel thing ... Is there any way to design own pro channel modules, (don't mean the 8 macros)? Are there plans to develope more of these?

Thanks

Hi, and welcome to this forum. At this time, there is not any (as far as I know) possibility to create your own Pro Channels. I agree with you, and think they are great myself. I hope they make more.
There are some for sale at https://shop.cakewalk.com...U2&crel=currencyId
I have the CA2A, Concrete Limiter and the PC4K S type Gate / Expander besides the ones included in SONAR.
I highly recommend the CA2A
All the best.

If one can program VSTs then you can write Pro Channel modules with guidelines from CW. I'll bet they have a development kit for them.

You can also turn any fx chain into a prochannel module pretty easily.

Ken... checked out the CA-2A you recommended. Sounds great! Do you know if it can be used in the newest Sonar Professional? Or is it just Platinum? See below from the page:

• a VST 3 or VST 2.4 compatible host, SONAR X1 Producer Expanded or newer for ProChannel module

It will work in any Pro Channel other than the original X1. Also the CA2A is also in VST form so it can work in any VST hoat

yes I love the GUI on the CA2A VST. really vintage looking. its a great plug in. really compares with some of the higher end plug ins made by Waves, exc.
I typically use the Puigtech 670 for vocals but some times use the CA2A instead, its also mind blowing on Bass guitar.

Waaaaaay back in the steam power days of x2 when prochannel add remove modules was in it's beta infancy I accidentally dragged a standard open vst to the PC. It landed there, did it's best to squeeze it's gui into the small space of a pc module so it wasn't tweakable but the "shocking" thing was:
It passed effected audio.  All vst's I tried this with worked the same.

I let the powers that be know and it's was fixed but that happened.

PC modules are simply good ole VSTs, just size-limited by the PC width.  The standard PC modules (1176,SSL buss comp and EQ) don't come in VST flavors, tho.  The "available for sale" VST/PC effects come in both flavor, as do 3rd party PC modules (Softube/etc.).

Cake did some great programing on their PC tools.
