So did people stop making music and started making color schemes?
So is there tutorials for this or is it pretty easy to do? I installed Paint.net. I may want to play around with this but I should really get more into the guts of Sonar's pre release.

I was so in to this for about 3 days, then I realized I had to get back to music. I still play with it now and some of these users have made really nice artwork. a nice little gift for us. but I've had my head too far in to my latest project lately. can get side tracked with the editor, its easy to get side tracked because the editor takes time to learn and takes time to design.

It's because of years of color & customization starvation. Give it time.

I have a very specific theme I want to do. I spend about 10-15 minutes a day on it; got the Control Bar and Step Sequencer done. At this rate, the completed theme should be ready sometime in 2017

Yeah, My control bar took about 5 days. I didn't expect that, but should've after my purple theme took way longer than I thought. Enjoying being back to the music, But ideas are simmering under the surface. Theme Editor was released as I just lost a major part of my hours, but school term was about to start and my substitute work had left a good impression. Gave me a little space for something different. I enjoyed learning my graphics program (Sketchbook Pro) a little deeper and UI design, fonts that suit small 8-10px (Droid Sans, Roboto)

I hope there will be a single post that have themes to look and chose from, made from the Sonar users. I'd appreciate just choosing/downloading a file and using it.... as I'm that that inclined to spend much time, as I actually like the interface now. ...the grey one. The Tungston is too dark for me, although looks cool. More "realistic" would be a goal. Panup had some that looked stellar...the fadars and all. If that could be easily used and imported into Platinum, I'd be excited. However learning the program after all these years of use, still tops the list along with new music.

Here my attempt at a more realistic Control bar, responds more 3D to button presses. The ability to use PNG files, means textures can be used. If Punups stuff uses PNG files I can't see a problem in importing theme. All my stuff was designed as TIFF, and then converted to PNG via Theme Editor. https://scontent-sjc2-1.x...566a6a&oe=58577EF8

Thanks, Scook! They look really nice.
“Beer is proof God loves us and wants us to be happy” is attributed to Benjamin Franklin perhaps in error, but the thought remains a worthy sentiment nonetheless.

Thanks, I am themed out for now and satisfied running the light green themes. Waiting for Cakewalk to release their light theme which hopefully will add a few of the hard coded colors to the editor.

Maybe I will make one to match all of my DAWs so I will have no clue which one I'm using. There should a sub forum for the color schemes. Skinnable DAW is often a feature request on other forums.

That doesn't look much Darker than Tungsten (The tracks are ligher). You could edit the Control bar backgrounds with contrast and darkness. quite quickly to achieve a darker theme. You could also just colour them black, as most of the detail is in the overlayed buttons, with the exception of the screens on the performance meters and transport bars. Which you could cut out and layer back over. a plain black back ground.

Seconds after posting I realised you could just make the backgrounds transparent to see what a black background looked like. Being the control bar background despite saying its editable, is fixed as black.

Well it can be editable, and hopefully will be... someday. I'm just glad to see the transport text now changeable. With Duckbar that was one I could never find as the color 0000 (black) resulted in 100's of possibilities - most of which were not GUI items - so when they were changed to see if they might be, they would crash Sonar. I just ran out of patience and gave up looking for 0000 colored text. Watching all this TE stuff unfold is like reliving history for me - like the transparent BG trick. All png's can be made transparent. I started doing it when X1 came out with a resource editor and later Duckbar and learned a lot about how the "X" GUI was put together. Sure you can spend too much time fooling with the GUI instead of making music. But sometimes it's a nice diversion that exercises other creative areas of the brain, which is a healthy thing to do. BTW you can actually "change" the CB background by coloring each module's transparent layer or adding a colored layer between it and the graphic layer. PNG's can have as may layers as you want while editing them when using Photoshop or PS Elements.
