Overlapping audio clips Sonar Platinum

I recently upgraded to sonar platinum from 8.5 and I can't seem to figure out how to have two audio clips overlap on the same track. For example if I record a clip and cut it off at a certain point and then record a new clip starting a couple measures before in order to jump in at the spot I cut the first clip off at, it always mutes the first clip for those two measures instead of overlapping. Is there a setting somewhere that I am missing?

Go into preferences and see how you have recording configured. You probably don't have it configured for sound on sound recording.

Right-click the Record button in the Transport module, and choose 'Sound on Sound'. You'll want to read up on Take Lanes and Comping in the Ref. Guide.

That fixed it. Thanks a lot! It was not set to sound on sound. I will definitely read up on take lanes and comping, I have a little bit and I think I have an idea how it works, but this is the first project I've started since getting platinum so it will be interesting when it comes time to do some comping. Thanks again.
