Looking for assistance setting up a new system.
Hello Sonar Fam,
I just purchased a Creation Station from Sweetwater. Intel 6th Gen Core i5-6400 2.7GHz (3.3GHz Max Turbo Boost)
Rack mountable CPU with 32GB RAM, 240GB SSD, 1TB HDD, Windows 10 Home 64-bit, and Software Suite.
I have a 1TB HDD used for samples in my current system that I would like to use. The system is already optimized for music. My question is what is the best way to set up this system to achieve max performance? i.e. where to install what and on which HDD. I have Splat, Maschine Studio, Komplete 10 Ultimate, Komplete Kontrol and a slew of vsts. FedEx will show up in a couple of days and I would like to have a plan ready.

Part of what you are paying for from Sweetwater is the type of assistance you're asking about. They are very good at tech support and involve the manufacturers when needed. Give them a call.

I know a lot about computers, but I've never heard of Creation Station, so I looked it up. I take it from your specs that you bought a CS250v5 with a RAM upgrade?
Are you looking to copy your 1TB sample drive or physically install it in the Creation Station?

Ideally you would have another large SSD to store your samples on. All your larger instruments will load far quicker that way.
Going with the current setup, I would put all programs on the 240GB drive, do all your recordings/documents on the 1TB drive and install the sample drive in a free port. Once everything is installed you will still have some space left on the OS drive. For SSD's it's important to keep at least about 10 percent of the drive free so new data can be distributed evenly over a larger area (each "cell" has a maximum number of write operations). So keeping some margin for updates and new stuff you may add over time, I would say initally you should keep around 60GB free. If you're not adding another sample SSD, you can move some of your most used samples to the drive as long as you keep in mind that 60GB buffer.
