Selected piano roll

Whenever I select a track and press Alt+3 for the piano roll for that track, all the notes are selected. Is there something I can do so it doesn't do that? So none of the notes are selected. Thanks for any help!

One way is open the piano roll and select a track from the Tracks menu
Another is double-click a MIDI clip in the track. Open in PRV is the default

As far as I know that's normal behavior.
I have the 5 in the num pad set to deselect all.

@ Steve_Karl   Thanks! I tried Num5 but it brought up Preferences. Ctrl+Shift+A worked though.

Edit: I just mapped Num 5 to "Select None" so it corresponds to Edit Menu.

Clicking once in an empty area of the PRV with the Smart tool will de-select everything. This is a gesture that comes in handy when making various edits - e.g. you just moved a group of notes, and now want to move just one of them individually. Lasso also clears the current selection at the same time that it makes a new one which can come in handy.

Thanks for the info brundlefly! I was doing that but the problem I had was that the "Now Slider" would move to wherever I clicked. It was a bit annoying having to move the slider to the beginning or wherever I wanted to start playback all the time.

Go to Click Behavior in the Options menu of the Track View, and un-check Left/Right Click Sets Now. I usually leave this off as well and click in the timeline to set the Now time when needed.

That's the ticket! Thanks brundlefly! That will make things easier. I think I will leave that unchecked also.
