SOLVED - Platinum - Latest Update broke plug in usage?
Hi fellow Sonar...ians :) I just installed the latest Platinum update and it &^)*ed up my system. My audio engine no longer turns on and on a few projects I had already saved, where it starts, my plugins don't respond to any MIDI data. Why am I convinced that it's a Platinum issue I hear you ask? Well, because on the same system I also run X2 and X3 and those are absolutely fine. I just opened a Platinum project file with X3 (thanks Cakewalk for not blocking such functionality btw), and the project runs OK with everything in order. Does anyone have similar issues? Also, while I have you here, since the penultimate update on Platinum, even though all my peak levels are in the green, I have EVERY plugin distorting as if the levels are too high. Turning the levels down fixes it, but I'm pretty much having to run at -21db to get a workable sound. Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Thanks

HAHAHAHAHA OMG!!!! OK, I realize that this is possibly reputational suicide but since you've been so kind to help, I'll share what stupid a$$ thing I've done. I'll repay you with laughter I guess. Not to look for excuses but I have been locked in my studio for the last 20 hours....so.....be kind At some point in the night when adding a soft synth I must have accidentally clicked on the "MIDI Source" check-box of the "Insert Soft Synth Options" window (instead of the usual "Simple Instrument Track"). So no wonder I had no frigging audio. Thanks anyway guys

MassimoNicolosi OK, I realize that this is possibly reputational suicide...
Quite the opposite, given that everyone here has experienced pilot error at some point. Circling back and explaining the issue is a sure way to boost your reputation. I'm glad you got it figured out, but for reputational suicide, the correct approach is: 1. Post a thread title like "SONAR BROKEN!!!!!!!!! RECORDING DOESN'T WORK!!!!" 2. In your first post, talk about how much SONAR sucks, that [name another DAW; Reaper is a popular choice] always works perfectly all the time, how all the engineers at Cakewalk are stupid, and the quality control people should all be fired. Optional: Say that you have 20 years of experience as a software engineer, and if you were running the show, this kind of thing would never happen. 3. Someone posts "Do you have punching enabled further down the timeline, where you can't see it?" 4. Disable punch-in, continue recording, and never come back to the thread because you can't possibly ever admit making a mistake. So please, if you do want to commit reputational suicide in the future, please follow these guidelines. They have been honed over the years in many forums, and have been proven to be effective

Hey....if you're ever around the Oxfordshire area.....1st round on me Little do you realize what you could get into with that seemingly innocent offer... But if I'm in the area, I'll definitely PM you, and I'll also bring a release for you to sign. Of course, what you do with Trixie and Heather is none of my business, but they can get a little, uh, "unpredictable" sometimes.

You're not alone. I spent 15 minutes trying to figure out why there was no sound a couple of days ago. I had pressed the mute button on my Big Knob when the phone rang, and forgot to unmute after the call.
A deep chesty bawl echoes from rimrock to rimrock, rolls down the mountain, and fades into the far blackness of the night. It is an outburst of wild defiant sorrow, and of contempt for all the adversities of the world. - Aldo Leopold

I could tell pilot error stories that would make everyone in these forums feel like Einstein by comparison.
