Ozone compressor/limiter
I've been trying my hand at mastering in Ozone but need some suggestions. I notice the dynamics tab has both a compressor and limiter. I was hoping for some situations where one would use either or even both at the same time. I get using the compressor but am looking for tales of different uses.

I wouldn't think it would matter. It's Ozone 6. I would imagine most of the Ozone versions have this same feature where you can use both a compressor and limiter at the same time but can't say for sure on earlier versions.

With mild compression, a track with high dynamic range may still go into the red. A limiter can catch errant peaks and also protect monitors. Ideally the limiter is a safety net in that case rather than working full time.

I like to use the multi-band compressor in front of the limiter for smooth mixes. Use slow attack and medium release times and a gentle knee, for subtle leveling. But only for ballads and smooth instrumentals, not in-yer-face rockers.
 All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to. My Stuff

I think the OP meant that the multiband dynamics in Ozone has both Limiter and Compressor (not talking about the seperate Limiter which has its own section), when to use one or the other, or both.

Thanks for the input. I've been up in my mind with this one and decided that the limiter should be used if you need something extra to stop certain transients at whatever frequency so you don't end up over compressing the over-all section of one particular multiband section. I guess I still don't get it though or, I really need a tuned room to get it.
