It's that time again... :)

And both my wife and I get to take part in this awesome fund raising event. Last year was incredible - IIRC, we raised $32 000 for the Imagine foundation to help Clark County's struggling public schools music department and buy them new instruments. It was also the very first time that my wife and played together on stage - one song.

This year promises to be even better and bigger - and we get to play on 3 songs together. I play a total of 5 songs, and I get the lead for the first time on 3 songs this year. As surprising as it is, I actually had to learn 4 of those songs, because we opted for some of the more obscure material, as well as a few pieces from the 90's.

The funny thing is that I hadn't really cared for KISS much for the last few decades, until a few days after we moved to Vegas in 2012 and I happened to stumble upon Ace Frehley's recently released autobiography - which sort of rekindled my interest. As fate would have it, the first local musicians we started hanging out with were these guys. So there's a big connexion between Vegas and KISS for me.

Anyway, it's a great opportunity to play with some incredible musicians, to meet other people who got into music because KISS was an integral part of their childhood, to celebrate the music of a band that's all about having a good time and self-emancipation, and to raise money for a very good cause. I'm honoured to be part of something like that.

FWIW - I make a point of using it on Facebook. With only one week to go, it should be added as a banner shortly.

Without wishing to spoil the enjoyment of anyone yet to enjoy the full cinematic lurvliness of the movie, the pay-off line was in fact, ".... and I would have gotten away with it if it wasn't for those meddling Kiss"

Quick update - the entire event will be broadcasted live on kissnight.org - an entire night of music featuring over 40 musicians, beginning at 9 pm PST and traditionally going on until 3-4 am.

I hope I'm not breaking any rule here - you can purchase raffle tickets directly on the web site. Prizes include 6 electric guitars (a few of them with custom paint jobs), books, posters, memorabilia items, etc. Last year, guitars included a EVH and a Jackson. The custom paints are stunning.

Items will be shipped worldwide, free of charge.

Of course, all profits go to Imagine foundation to support music classes in public schools of Clark County.

As Mom always said, "Why? You can only play one at a time."

My stock replies for Mom and gf's (albeit less than successful) were "Why does a golfer have more than one club? He can only play one at a time." or "Why do you have so many pairs of shoes? You can only wear one at a time."

Rain, that is so cool!

My first rock album was Rock and Roll Over. I actually have that album signed by all four original members and hanging on my studio wall. I saw them for the first time in 1976 at about 6 years old. Just saw them for my 6th time on July 22nd for my 47th birthday. Took my family and they had a blast.

Great memories and just a fun band! I hope your evening is AWESOME!

My first album was the live album by Loggins and Messina! Now that was a great band that nobody ever talks about.  BTW did you know that Kenny Loggins first band was *the electric prunes?*:

Yep.  Got 8 L&M albums, 17 KL albums and one EP album.

But it's well known that we're not allowed to talk about 'em.

My first record was Diary of a Madman.

But my first tape copy of an album was KISS' Creatures of the Night. Huge drums, no non-sense heavy songs, dark imagery... The template for almost everything I like and do, musically.
