Heavens Ablaze - Another string piece

Hi everyone - Here is a link to a string piece.  It is a sombre, sparse piece.  As always, I am grateful for any time you take to listen and any feedback / suggestions you might have.  Thanks

Very creative piece, John, and well recorded.  In a few places there were some Barktok-like chordings that I liked a lot.  This is very somber -- I think you got just the artistic effect you were after.  Good work.

btw, have you ever listened to Bartok's string quartets?  Brilliant stuff.

Just another thought I had -- Beethoven's late quartets are groundbreaking and at the apex of western music -- just wanted to mention that in addition to Bartok (and others).  I'm impressed that you write string pieces so well -- bravo!

Thanks for listening and the kind words. I am really flattered that you liked this one. I was a bit nervous about posting it. I am really flattered too that something I composed reminded you of someone like Bartok. I am definitely going to check his string quartets out. Thanks for the tip!

I have been thinking about using this piece with some images or video in our school Rememberance Day service. Rememberance Day is November 11 and I always find it a sad and somber day. My father said he thought of scenes from. World War I when listened to it.

Thanks! I will check those out too. Thanks also for the compliment about the string pieces. Right now I am doing everything by ear. I always liked strings and I tried to learn the violin last year, but I didn't have the coordination or patience to play anything.

    Thanks Again
