RIP Gene Wilder
Icon of comedy and acting dead at 83. he may not have been a "musician" but he was a giant among the artists.

We were watching The Producers just a few days ago and I was thinking how much I liked him. Very sad day...

Do you realize how many actors from "Young Frankenstein" are gone? Only Teri Garr and Cloris Leachman are still here, I think. And, of course, Mel Brooks. Somehow, I think it's appropriate to have an announcement of Gene Wilder's death here in the Coffee House of all places. We are all diminished.
“Beer is proof God loves us and wants us to be happy” is attributed to Benjamin Franklin perhaps in error, but the thought remains a worthy sentiment nonetheless.

I don't know about diminished, those are such difficult chords to finger, but I always loved the Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor together. Richard Pryor was awesome alone, but the PC Police have all but eliminated his best days from memory

Wow. He had comedy in his eyes, a bit like Andy Kaufman.

A great comedian and he will be remembered! Off to watch Blazing Saddles. A little trivia, Richard Pryor was one of the writers so they made a great team from the beginning even though Richard didn't have a screen role.

Although I said in the OP that he wasn't a "musician" per se, he could sing quite well, actually and did so in WW and other movies (and danced quite well also) he was a very well rounded actor and will be sorely missed. he had Alzheimer's but didn't want to tell anyone because he didn't want children to be afraid of him.

I had a great respect for him. I thought of him as a grand gentle man. A killer comedian and great movie actor. He seemed never to age either. He leaves a very fine legacy.
