Sonar's UI scaling is not very good.

So I went out and spent a chunk of change on a 32" IPS 4K monitor for my DAW.  By default, Windows 10 wants to scale to 150%, but I have manually set it to 125%, as the screen is bigger than most of the 28" models on the market and readability is still pretty good at 125%.

I've run Sonar Platinum at both levels of UI scaling and, to be honest, things get pretty soft and fluffy visually in Sonar's UI with any scaling, but it's worse the more you scale up.

With the prevalence of 4K monitors hitting the market, I'm wondering if there are any plans to improve scaling in Sonar?  At 100% scaling, Sonar's UI looks sharp and clean, however with any scaling, which is a must with 4K, things don't look too pretty in Sonar.  It's like everything, including fonts, are raster-based rather that vector-based, so they don't look very good when they're enlarged.  If at least the text in Sonar's UI used vector-based fonts, like truetype fonts, things would look much better.

Any other 4K monitor users out there seeing this?

I'm not seeing that problem.  When I went 4K I got the physical size req'd to keep things being displayed the same as the dual 20-somethings I had.  That ended up being 43".  I could have gotten away with maybe an inch or 3 smaller without needing to scale.

I don't like Windows scaling for anything

This is not going to be helpful for you, but my workaround to the Windows/4K debacle is to run my monitor at sub-native resolution, and set Windows to 100% scaling.

Some (or most) folks hate the way this looks. I actually like it. It *might* work for you, which is why I mention it.

To be fair, it's quite tricky, with the images being PNG files, they have fixed pixels, so stretching those icons is going to blur the pixels. You see that in a graphics program designed to stretch images, never mind an audio one. Fonts should be fine though

As I mentioned earlier, just making the fonts true-type would be a great start.  For me, it's the textual elements that look worst.

Call me selfish, but I really hope Cakewalk doesn't compromise the upcoming mac OS release compensating for Windows scaling issues...

Go to Control Panel / Appearance and Personalization / Display. Click on "set a custom scaling level" and choose the same percentage as you've dialed in in Display Settings. Should be nice and sharp from now on.

Given that currently, 100% of the paying user-base are Windows users, I don't think you are being selfish, I think you are being ridiculous.  25 years of Cakewalk history is on the PC.  I'm glad Sonar is going to be available on Mac, but to suggest that Windows development should take a back-seat for the Mac is biting the hand that feeds you.
