Love the song.  The lead vocal is way too buried on my setup. It sounds like you're singing full voice into a microphone from about 15-20 feet away.  I have lousy speakers though.

as above - main vox are far too far down, and also during this the snare gets lost. kick is fine, but i'd bring up the snare a couple of db too, or at least eq it a little brighter with a slight volume increase. can you widen the cymbals and get them out of the centre? though this may be an mp3 conversion artefact.
otherwise sounds great

Sounds good!  I want more bass. The low end of the kick is perfect. Can't hear the bass notes.
Mids and highs are right on.
Not too compressed. Drums are just right and the guitars sound killer.
Try to fix the bass.
Like it lots.

Hi Larry, I really liked your song. I wasn't getting a good listening experience on my laptop before and after the fixes so I switch over to my Bose QC35 headset and boy didn't they bring your song to life. Strong kick and snare throughout, killer guitar. If there was one thing I would say the high hats may be a little loud in the chorus as it seems to drown out the vocal a little. Killer song, love it.

late to the party.

Still..... needs more bass in the verses. JMO. Take off the bass top end/dist/chorus? in the verses. The bass in the breakdowns and chorus are nice.

The recorded tracks were provided RAW...no effects...nothing...
Had to do everything....about 25 tracks total - 10 vocal tracks alone...

It was fun...just like Dare You To Move was!

I'd say the kick drum is perfect! Which in this genre is 50% of the ballgame. So that's good! I did find the hi hats and cymbals to be a little bright and splashy. Vocals were well present.

And as for the bass guitar, I wanted it more present - but there's a little section around 2:28 where I think I can tell the bass as recorded is not giving you a lot to work with. Kinda trebly for a bass g, don't know if eq could save it without bringing the mud into the house.

thanks, nice listen!

Just to let you know like Ed I am late to the party to but I did stop by and have a listen.  Personally the vox had a touch to much reverb but that is JMFO.

I liked it right away.  Well played and mixed and definitely a rocker.  What is your deadline?  If you don't mind me asking.

Cool tune.  Great job on the vocals and the guitar tone is to die for... just terrific.  Cymbals are a bit bright and spalshy for my taste and seem to be cloaking the guitar at some points.

Cool kickazz rocker! As with all dense mixes like this there are a few nits but to me the important thing is the overall impact and this definitely smacks you right in the face!
Good job!

Thanx guys....deadline was Sunday and was sent off...

I know I won't win...but it was sure a blast mixing...songs like this
are right up my lane...

Obviously there were parts I wasn't happy with either...but I think it has impact...
and that's what I was going for...

Cymbals are from the overheads...and wanted the "overhead room" sound on the snare...
I probably should have EQ'd them down...but deadline was getting close and
just let 'em slide...a mix engineer is NEVER done...just has to stop for the deadline

All in all, quite happy with it...was about 25 tracks...

I'm learning, and you guys are a HUGE help...so THANX A MILLION...
and ALWAYS feel free to criticize away...I ain't scared...LOL  I want to get better at
this!!!

kk....the vox still needs work...at times it sits oddly in the back of the mix...love the tune no question. is the contest for mixing or for the tune? if its for the tune and you'd like a 2nd alt mix let me know

email me at thepogue at yahoo

the tune is really good...the mix is 70% of what it could be....and even then its still really strong...so if you need back up on the mix...holla

good work!

cool intro....
big drum sound,
listening loud, vox seem just right.
similar to a alice in chains vox mix..
some of the background voxes do get buried from time to time..
keep pushing those up.

Think you did a good job with what you were given.

Drummer probably needs to buy a different crash.  I see some posts of critique on it, but it sounds like more of a drummer problem than an engineer problem to me.

Mixes that are dense like this are really difficult.  I know it is part of the genre, but I would have tried to get things to be more dynamic and less compressed.
