Pick a piece of music you would like to learn.. or a style you would like to learn.  The outside look at something like "lessons".. is that theres some mystical one and only way to do something on an instrument.  Most techniques were derived around the music they were intended to produce... so - if you want to learn some classical, take some classical man... if you want to learn some rock... you get the idea!

Be the first one who thinks that you can

I don't know.

If I take writing as an example, the best moments to learn are when ... you throw everything out the window ... and start fresh. Sometimes, it is an old line, or an old moment, that is holding things back ... and it is best if that one is sent on its way ... and left behind.

New ideas, are rarely built on old ideas.

But, if you use "classical", go out of the usual, and listen to something you have never heard before. And go back 500 years, so you can forget that rock'n'roll pre-fabricated style of music altogether.

Sometimes, we think "ideas" are just a re-hashing of what we already know and do. That's just like changing the color of your sunglasses ... you're still looking at the same thing!

Music is not about notes and chords! My poem is not about the computer or monitor or letters! It's about how I was able to translate it from my insides!
