Is there any VSTi for granular synthesis within Sonar Platinum's package ?

I am just hoping its there somewhere but I may have just overlooked it.

Basically, some synth within Sonar's included pack where I could simply load up any user .wav audio file and have parameters of granular synthesis work on it such as grain size, scatter range, density, etc.

Is there one ?

No. Your best bets are:

1. Reaktor 6
2. The Mangle

The Mangle is (obviously) a fraction of the price of Reaktor (less than $30), but it is surprisingly effective as a granular VSTi.

But Reaktor has literally thousands of 'add-ons' besides the many granular things.

Mangle is excellent but so is also New Sonic Arts Granite. Although both granular synths they are a little different from each other and do produce quite different results.

Check out how good Mangle sounds here with just a single Tibetan bell hit.

Granite is also totally killer though:

I have got all these libraries.

Granular synths are a bit specialised and that may be the reason they are not standard in most DAW's.

Steinberg's Padshop is also pretty cool too.

I've never done much with granular synths, but that Mangle video sure has me thinking...

Hey thanks for the inputs Earwax and Jeff.

I do have Reaktor 5 but couldn't land on any classic granular synth which has the standard parameters working on a user .wav. Well, maybe haven't explored enough. Basically, I was wondering if I could find something similar to the granular functions of Omnisphere 2 in any synth that I already have. I do have Kontakt 3 and Absynth 4 too. Would they have any granular functions similar to dedicated granular synths ?

Mangle looks cool by the way...

Mangle is cool....spend the bucks - you won't regret it.

Regarding Reaktor 5 - seeing is believing -a little something to get you started - have fun!

Earwax, thanks a ton for all those links. Very interesting indeed.

I always knew the power and versatility of Reaktor in terms of the user being able to create one's own synths using the modules as building blocks. Just that I never ventured into it due to, lets say, partly laziness and partly the lack of patience, let alone the technical ability to understand the deep & complex Reaktor structure. I was being content with using and exploring the available synths.
But these videos have surely generated some interest and will to examine the potential. Thanks once again.

These four videos in a series are well worth watching in order to gain some insight into granular synthesis:
