Track selected x Track focused

Something that bothers me a lot is the issue of track focus.
In the track view, when I'm scrolling through tracks with the up and down keys, this does not change the selected track. In this case, occur many confusions:
  • With track 1 selected and the focus on track2, If I press Alt+S (solo track), "solo" will be activated on track 1, not track 2 (and worse, pressing again Alt+S on track 2 will NOT unsolo track 1).
  • If I use some keyboard shortcut to open Piano Roll View, it will show both track 1 and track2.
  • I think similar problems occur with other features.

I wonder if anyone has any idea how to facilitate this process of track focus alternation.

It's a bit of a damned if they do and damned if they don't for I am sure for every person who would like it your way there are others who don't. I understand what you're saying and it happens to me too but instead I blame myself for not being in step with the way the ui designers want it.

Ok, I have to resign myself. But I would just like to know if anyone had any tips to work more efficiently in this track alternation process in the track view...

Don't select tracks except to copy/edit/bounce etc. their content. Change focus by clicking in an empty area of a track header or by using the cursor keys. With no track selected, keyboard shortcuts will always apply to the focused track.

I Ctrl+Shift-A or click in an empty area of the track view very frequently throughout a session to ensure nothing is selected when I don't intend to edit it.

For select none I use num pad 5 (num lock off). Probably my most used shortcut.

This does bother me a lot. One of unwanted features I still have to be careful about.
