Love will carry you

Hi Guys,

Hope all on the forum are well. Not posted here in a while, but I have a new song to share with you all. Something a little different from the SquareSpiral stable, softer and with just a little leaning in the Country vibe. Written by my long time collaborator Rich Thomsen and sung beautifully by Melissa Moser, it was fun to step outside of my normal style and do something a little softer.

Please take a listen - all comments greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

Good song and what a lovely voice!

At first, I thought there was too much of the room coming through on the vocal, but once everything kicked in it sounded so natural. Very nice, wide open mix. Great job!

    Thanks Dan,

That was exactly the sound I was going for - much of the what I think of modern country tends to being a little to upfront and over-mastered - Was careful not to overcook it when mixing.

    Thanks for listening

Mic comes across well here, I do wonder if perhaps bring the vocal back a little before it kicks off might just bring that room balance back in line.

    Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Wookie - You may be on to something there. Getting the balance of the exposed vocal in the intro was a challenge.

It ended up this way as there was a great presence to the raw vocal take which I really liked.

I've been living with the mix for a few weeks now so may have become blind to it. I will revisit it with fresh ears next time I'm in front of my monitors.

    Cheers!

very nice song and performances Chris - nice clear mix.
Maybe a tad too much compression on the vocal?

It's cool for sure! I'd also take just a bit of compression off the vocal, or leave it on and cut/dip just a little something in the lower eq on it.  ?

The vocal is very very forward in the mix, and therefore any pitchiness is exposed. I'd say she's on pitch about 97% of the time - the long-held notes could be looked at. Her voice has a really nice, comfortable quality to it, for sure.

The ending just kind of bails out, maybe someone has an idea there?

    cool tune, good share!
    -Tom
