@Brundle...

"Ctrl+Alt+Drag"

Is the Ctrl part of it? I thought it was just Alt. Or maybe they changed it in SPlat.

Either way, giorgio... try it.

To me this is like someone wanting support for windows XP when windows 7 came out. Never the less, I felt version 3 was awesome and Platinum is even better. However, I would like this guy to get help but like everyone else you have to give specs and such for people to help you. I started with sonar on Version 8.5 and have not looked back ever since. The forums are super helpful. Stop being mad about key bindings make new ones and move on. Other daws do the same thing. I have a couple of others. Studio One, Fruity Loops, and Reason. They all do not go backwards to support old systems.

Just to make it clear, I'm using Sonar for musically and technically complex projects. I create these compositions in Sonar and do a lot of midi editing, as well as audio recording and mixing. Having often many signature and tempo changes in my projects.

Just to make it clear, you aren't the only one who uses Sonar to make musically and technically complex projects. We seem to get along okay. Perhaps you just need some training?

In order to make, record or produce music in a DAW, you need just a bit more than basic computer skills.
DAWs are fairly complex softwares.
When you take time to read some of the technical issues / questions posted in this forum, you see that many users struggle and complain about what they think are software bugs. Yes, bugs do happen, but many times it's just due to bad setup or plain computer ignorance.

That's ok, as we all have to start somewhere and people here are helping other users everyday with all kinds of issues. And it's also ok to ask for help, but don't **** about the software or the company who makes it.
There are many, many users in this forum who have absolutely no issues with Sonar or other DAWs.
Is it luck?
Don't think so.

I use Sonar like a "tape recorder" so my needs are (I suspect compared to some) more minimal.  When I read that folks can't use it because it's "so buggy" I kinda roll my eyes.  I've made a living using it for over a decade.  There are no show-stoppers at all for me.  I don't do techno so maybe if I did...

+1,000,000. I've told this story before, but a company asked me to do a document on how to transfer audio files from a program they made to an MP3 player. "Keep it simple, it's only three steps, won't take you more than an hour."

I handed in a document with IIRC 23 steps. They were very upset - "We told you to keep it simple!" I said fine, tell me which steps I can take out, and I'll do a re-write. Of course, none of the steps could be removed.

It was true that transferring the files took only three steps. The other 20 involved interactions with the computer's operating system

This is why I always recommend using computers designed specifically for music, a quality audio interface, and a basic graphics card. When I started doing that instead of using off-the-shelf computers from places like Office Depot, 90% of my problems went away.

gonna open a beer for every time I still read someone complaining about the Cakewalk 'subscription' model, which shouldn't have had the 'subscription model' name.

old situation: customers pay to own and keep the latest version (Sonar X1, X2, X3 etc)
new situation: customers pay to own and keep the latest version (Sonar Platinum) PLUS GET FREE ADDITIONAL UPDATES FOR A LONG TIME.

Either people don't get it, don't want to get it or are just unreal.

Actually you have your tense construction messed up.

They asked for money in the past for services that have been rendered and delivered.
They are asking for money in the present for services that are currently being rendered and delivered (see the September early release thread).

You're almost two years too late to join the "Cakewalk will never be able to deliver on their promise of monthly updates, and besides, now that they have our money there's no incentive to deliver updates" naysayers. That's sooooooo January 2015.

(Ever notice none of those people ever return and say "Boy, was I wrong! Didn't turn out like that at all!"?)

I think if we all would still be using Sonar 8, the company would be floating on thin ice.
Luckily most of us are using Platinum. Good program, you should try it.

Another point worth mentioning for those who aren't familiar with how business works is that companies that want to "strip 'n flip" (or are about to go under) don't make long-term investments - like hiring more support staff, hiring more engineers, and putting out job postings for additional positions, all of which Cakewalk is doing.

sorry you feel that way Bob. however, a lot of us are very happy with the way things are going here right now.
there is always room for improvement, but I have to say, Platinum is a great DAW and it registers through Command Center, so no hunting down those old registration numbers (that you cant seem to get working).

Customer support is working fine, my guess is they are not answering you because your trying to get help for a version of sonar that's 5 versions old.

Good luck.
