Buggy around splits...

Open a project...

Add an audio track that's an hour long.

Set markers on either side of a 4 minute range.

Move to the markers and split the track.

Select the clip and choose normalize > -3 dB.

(Does it quickly normalize only the clip?)

Now, select the clip and choose bounce to tracks.

(Does it quickly bounce?)

For me, my project had 4 tracks for 2 hours at 96. When I choose bounce it sometimes goes normally and sometimes takes a really long time and then includes silence for the whole project on either side of the range I meant to bounce.

**
I have the range properly selected when I choose bounce to tracks.
This is a workflow I use a lot. I'm not making a mistake.

I worked around it by re-splitting the clips. This fixed it. I had to do it over and over and over.

I'm not sure if it had to do with the Windows 10 updgrade that occurred right before I started having problems.

StudioCat > I use Windows 10 and Sonar Platinum. I have a touch screen.
I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

What people in these forums often forget is that many poltergeists can read. After they see you have a problem that you post about in the forum, they have a good laugh, and maybe hoist a few at the Poltergeist Bar & Grill. But, they also get bored really easily. So rather than see you experience the same problem over and over, they fix it and plot something else.

The only solution I've found is to put a TV nearby with a program they like so they get distracted and watch it. However due to their limited attention span, it's hard to find programs that will keep them occupied. They seem partial to cartoons. I had a really good run with Rick and Morty, but when they got bored with that it took several days before I found something else they liked. Right now, they seem fascinated with Destination Truth. Hopefully it will hold their interest for a while.

Haha! For the next few weeks at least I would give the US election coverage a try Craig. Observing from a distance at least it seems pretty much tailor made for the limited attention span of a digital gremlin:)

I remember I opened a project some years back and all the tracks were totally out of time with one another. I stopped it and closed Sonar. It never happened again. Why it happened I have no idea. Nor do I have an answer for why it never ever happened again. I think Craig is on to something. Poltergeist is as good a reason as any I can come up with.

This action, split a number of tracks to short clips and bounce to clips is a regular party of my workflow.

I often record non stop for hours with DigiCheck, import into Sonar, then split around songs and copy into other projects.

The problem was repeatable for a time with one extended recording as I split and bounced the tracks to copy into other projects. This was true over multiple days and sessions.

I just can't repeat it now.

The work around required me to split and bounce to clips repeatedly.

Wait, as I think about it, the time I was having trouble I was normalizing a range without bouncing to clips first. This was because it was a simple recording and I bounced all the tracks in the same big two hour long project rather than copying each song into a separate project.

    Idk. Shrug.
