Take groupings getting lost, speed comping fails

I'm recording individual instruments with multiple mics.
Each instrument's mics are in one folder. Each mic has multiple takes.
With comping on, each mic's "take one" is grouped, each mic's "take two" is grouped, etc
That works great.

Sometimes, however, that grouping gets lost or needs to be rebuilt.
My mistake was grouping all the takes for one mic instead of clicking through each mic's takes and grouping all the take ones, then all the take twos etc.
This also becomes exponentially difficult as the take count and mic count increases.

It would, however, be a trivial matter to offer a "group takes in folder for comping" tool.
You could look at all the takes in the folder and compare the time stamp. Each take with the same time stamp could then be automagically grouped and peace in the universe would be restored.

Can something like that happen?
