*** SOLVED *** Cannot delete plugin/track

Hi all.

This is a strange one

I have a vocal track which has a Thomann De-esser in the Fx bin.
Every time I even touch the entry in the bin, SONAR will completely lock and eventually white screen
I cannot delete the plugin
The track itself will not delete
Hitting 'e' to bypass all plugs results in a crash

For now I have archived the track and hidden it and now 'e' works as expected

But it bugs my OCD knowing this errant plugin is still sat there

Also, there are other tracks with the De-esser in the FX bin not displaying this behaviour - I can open the plugin GUI without issue

I know this is a 32 bit plugin and before archiving the track, Bitbridge would throw up an error when exiting the project

So, any clues?

Thanks,

Jonesey

didn't know that such a plugin exists!?! well, does it? deleting something that doesn't exist might be as dangerous as triggering the reversal of the big bang ;-)

I think it has to be Tonmann De-Esser.
    It´s a free VST-plugin.

Delete the track in safe mode? Something is corrupt.

It might be worth it to rename/move/delete the plug's .dll and see if Sonar deactivates it for you?

    Yep, that's the one.

    For a freebie it's damn good De-esser.

Might try safe mode - didn't think of trying that

    Thanks all.

Did you disable it in the Plug-in manager?

I've not run into this before, but i would think that deleting the DLL would solve the problem. SONAR would not be able to load it, would merely complain about the plugin not being found, and then you could safely delete it from the track.

De-essers are a dime a dozen. I'm sure you'll have no trouble finding a suitable replacement. Do you have Pro-C? That makes a pretty good de-esser. Sleepy Time Lisp is free, and has a 64-bit version (although I wasn't impressed by it). Spitfish is still a viable option, AFAIK, and it's not a SynthEdit creation like Tonmann. I haven't used it in years, but it did work pretty well when I did. HoRnet offers an inexpensive de-esser. Another cheap one is Sibilance by Toneboosters.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Sonars vocal-strip comes with a deesser too! It always worked for me.
