Oooh eck!
It's not often I post in here because my system is normally behaving pretty damn well. Just started a new project and I thought I'd dust off my Korg MS20 VSTi, run it through Adaptiverb and see what happens. SPlat crashed three times. Either browsing preset or playing the MS20 keyboard. I get the windows "program not responding" dialogue box, so no crash report sent. I went to command centre and I've noticed there is an update so I will update everything and see what happens... cheers andy

Adaptiverb is incredibly CPU-hungry, but I believe zynaptiq has an update that's more CPU-friendly...check their site.

Hi Craig, It was crashing be I even inserted Adaptiverb, so it's not that. I've also been in close touch with Denis re Adaptiverb's "issues" so I'm pretty up to date with that, thanks I updated Sonar and I just had a thirty minute session without a hitch. That included Adaptiverb. Just opened the interface for the MS-20 to check the tuning and it hung Sonar. I'll check Korg's website for updates but I don't think they're doing anything with the legacy stuff. cheers guys onwards and upwards...

Hi Peeps, I've mot managed to sort out this issue, which is a shame really, because, even though I might not use my Korg stuff often, I sometimes get inspiration from them, and they sound so different to my Arturia and uHe synths. I managed to get my project finished, but each time I opened and then tweaked my MS-20 VSTi, Sonar crashed. I eventually managed to tweak what I needed to via automation. I've not had time to test my other Korg VSTi synths yet, or indeed any other synths, as my latest project only used that single Korg synth plus an audio track. I'll report back when I've had a chance to dust off the Polysix and what have you. cheers andy

My korg VSTs work perfectly. However, I remember when I did have problems with them but that was when there was dongle. That was a nightmare. I will never have another dongle vst ever! The worst thing.

Thanks for confirming that I don't know what has changed on my system, other that SPlat updates. Polysix appears to work fine and I can't force a crash. Can't say the same for MS-20 though. Still crashing even after SPlat and Windows updates. Work around, in the mean time, is save often, don't do much in the MS-20 dialogue box, and then change parameters via automation. Or I could you event manager, but I find automation easier and it is instantly visible and easier to change. cheers andy

just an idea, try running it with the 64bit double precision engine turned off. I have had sonar crash before with plugins that don't like it.

Andy I to have problems with the Korg MS-20 soft synth. I did approach Korg but they came back with some rather weak and wet response. I found the best thing to do when tweaking the MS-20 is to make a point of doing a Ctrl-S just before and just after. I know it is not a fix but is stops other heartache. I have not found any of the other Korg's soft synths M1, Wavestation, Polysix, Monopoly or LegacyCell to have these problems.

Hi, thanks for your input I've just checked my settings and I have never had it turned on for some reason... I'm wondering if it should be...

If you are getting an actual crash please log a bug and post the CWBRN number here. There is detailed information on how to get a minidump here even if the system hangs or SONAR doesnt produce one for some reason when it crashes. This is most likely the plugin corrupting memory.

Thanks Noel. In my case, Sonar is not creating a dump file. I have checked the minidumps folder and the last dump file is dated September 6th and will not be associated with my Korg MS-20 VSTi. I've read the article "What if my software "hangs" and does not create a crash file?" but that takes me to yet another microsoft article and at that point I start to glaze over I'm afraid. I used to class myself as an "advanced" user but nowadays I really struggle. For the amount of times that I use this synth I am prepared to work around the issue by saving regularly and opening the VSTi dialogue box as infrequently as possible. kind regards andy

Unfortunately Noel when it does cause a crash what I have observed is it normally just goes Bang, SONAR dies without any clues. none of the normal errors or chance to capture anything.
