Are there Control surface options other than xtouch?
I have been looking for a control surface in the less than 500$ range and have been a bit disappointed that there aren't many options especially for Sonar except the X touch.I have a BCF2000 but some buttons have stopped working after 8 years now and I'm trying for something other than behringer. The novation zero SL looks like the next best option but have unanswered questions like if it can help with jog wheel type of navigation and also how the solo works coz the buttons below thgthge faders are for mute. There are tons of controllers out there but most of them don't support Sonar out of the box.Makes me think if I'm using the right DAW.I am a long time Sonar user.

I upgraded my control surface from a BCF2000 to the X-Touch. The first thing I noticed is "no more noisy faders". The motorized faders on the X-Touch are quiet. If you don't like Behringer, there is the over $1000 Mackie. I'm not a Presonus fan so I won't comment either way on the new Faderport 8.

The fader port 8 is not out there yet and I would not want to buy something that does not have user reviews.

I have noticed that it is fairly easy to find original Mackie Universal Control surfaces on Ebay and Kijiji, and prices are quite good. They're very nice control surfaces (I have one), and pretty robust. I've seen them for $400 - $500 on a fairly regular basis.

controllers don't sell too well, that's the reason why there are not too many out there. behringer will be one of the few companies left to offer a surface and considering how well other Behringer products work that were introduced more recently, I would expect the xtouch to be worth its money. I have not seen a price for the faderport 8 yet, but from the feature list they posted it looks like the xtouch is superior. i wonder why they enter the market with something like that when they have to compete with Behringer on a small market segment ...

I love my Mackie MCU and nothing will replace it, but TouchDAW is a real hoot. And you can't beat the price.

This is coming soon and it works well with many DAW's not just Studio One. Around $500 street price. http://www.presonus.com/products/FaderPort-8 Sorry I did not notice the previous posts on the Faderport. Firstly do not let Fireberd's response put you off. The fact he did not have a good experience with his interface may not apply to the Faderport at all. If it is any help I have been using the original Faderport and it has been working very nicely. The fader moves super fast and quiet as well. So I am guessing the same will apply to the new model. Also if any of you are using Studio One as well as Sonar this is a very logical choice because integration with Studio One will be even deeper with this. It goes far deeper than the standard operations. But it has not come out yet and obviously we will have to wait and see.

eph221 You can look at the Faderport 8.
+1 is you want 'multiple faders". I find my single Fader Port to be sufficient since: A) I don't run a for hire studio and this I don't need to "wow" anyone. B) I like that it works in the four DAWs I own (SONAR, Mixbus, Studio One Pro and Reaper). C) I have yet to need to set automation on more than one track at a time
